This looks to be the strongest and deepest squad we have put together so far. As long as one of the strikers clicks we should be in for a pretty good season!

I really like the blizzard kit, I might pick that one up!

Glad to see Camargo staying a while. He has been one of the most important players for this club since inception and it is noticeable when he is not on the pitch.

I like Camargo, the best employment of him is as a sub in the 65 minute to bring some pace up front.

Warschewski is looking dangerous. I think we’re gonna really like this signing.

We always set up too conservatively against Forge. We play right into their hands by playing with wing backs and wingers and giving up the middle of the field.

This game was fine until their absolute fluke of a goal that made several of our players look rather foolish as it sifted between them. We do not look overly dangerous in attack.

Some poor defending on both goals against. Way too much space allowed in the box.

But it is game 1. I’m choosing to not let myself get frustrated by the result. Not sure it’s working though. They need to learn to close out games when they have the lead and make 1 goal leads into 2 goal leads

I thought Cavs looked pretty good until we took the lead. But in all honesty, I wonder if there’s just a fragility there and mental weakness.

Okay, now that the beers from the watch party have processed....

At one point the PBP commented that neither goalie made a save and that kind of summed things up for me. That first goal from Borges with 4 defenders surrounding him can't go in. And an unlucky deflection on the second goal.

Bevan is going to be sorely missed. Warschewski and Shaw just didn't look the same threat. Don't know why Tommy insists on playing Shome out of position at RB when a significantly better RB in Aird is on the bench.

Nothing to panic about in game 1 but I'd say it was far from Cavalry's strongest performance. I think Ottawa are very beatable next week with how they looked against York yesterday but Cavalry have always struggled there.

Watched most the 2nd half. Wind and surface made things pretty tough.

2nd goal is on Gutierrez imo. Completely let his man go, who ended up scoring (before ricocheting off our guy). That one was on him. Hopefully it's not a sign of things to come with him. (Not being engaged defensively)

I am hoping it's an injury/fitness thing. Aird's corner delivery is one of the better ones on the team as well.

Wheeldon likes to show one thing the first stretch of games and then play a totally different game the remainder of the season. ( unfortunately they like to show an other thing entirely in the playoffs).

Early days, so no need to hit the panic button. But I'm getting really annoyed with there being no answer for Forge. They own us.

I used to feel that Cavalry were a bit hard done by vs. Forge (and they were). The league's darlings, "Forever First" (barf), Bob Young, etc. Now it just feels like Forge have figured us out.

I still think that Cavalry are stronger and will finish above Forge, but we'll need to figure out how to beat them eventually.

I genuinely think that Forge is living rent free in their heads. The way they talk about them in interviews and lead up matches seems like they have become almost insurmountable giants

It’s interesting, last August when Tommy inverted his fullback and man marked Bekker, Cavalry dominated the middle of the pitch and beat Forge 3-0. to my eye they haven't really tried it since. I think that is why you would play Shome at fullback, so he can come inside and create those overloads. I need to watch the match again to see if they were trying it and it just didn't work, or (my guess) they didn't try it again much like they didn’t do it in the playoffs/final.

It'll cool off a bit in the evening, but no complaints about that. No new snow is forecast, loads of sun in the coming days (even if it is a bit cooler) to melt what remains. It is always a rare treat to be under the floodlights.

You know it is within touching distance when you can start peeking at the forecast!

The building looks empty as far as ticket sales are concerned.
