The Blue Jays Thread: 08/09 Off-Season Thread
With the season over, time to look ahead.
Will Burnett be back?
Will we get a big ticket free agent?
There's scuttlebutt of a trade....
For me, the problem is that I really like this team. I don't know how much of a blowup I want, even though I know we need it.

A few more questions...
Will Aaron Hill be back next season?
Will the Jays move a Outfielder to make room for Snider / Lind.. Or does Snider start the season in AAA?
Will Jays make Management changes in the off season... President.. GM..

blue jays have announced that with the termination of their relationship with AAA Syracuse, they have signed a 2 year affiliation deal with the Las Vegas 51's of the PCL.
http://www.cbc.ca/sports/baseball/st...las-vegas.html
Pretty crappy spot for the jays farm team to be located considering the huge increase in time to move players. likely only a two year situation though.

How much longer do they have Halladay locked up for, one year or two years? To me that's what you have to take and work with. If it's one more year than you find out if an extension is possible, if it's not than I think you have to look at moving him for a heap of prospects now and go the rebuild route. If you have two years than you can be a bit aggressive in trying to go for it this next year.
It's a real cross roads year. If they can add a better every day short stop, get productive years from guys like Lind and Schneider next year and retain Burnett you should be able to compete.

I might be the only one happy about the farm team moving to Las Vegas. Now they will roll through Salt Lake City on a regular basis so I can watch them.
Team needs starting pitching, Shortstop and a catcher, that is if Hill can come back and play 2nd.
Hopefully they just keep Snider up and let him develop at the Major league level. I also want Gillick to come back and oversee this team.
Jays play in a tough division but they sure are close to contending.

If we were to not sign any free agents, then right now Lind and Snider both make the MLB team without a fight. There just simply isn't anyone else. They'll be swapping between LF and DH (and Snider can play RF, even if he isn't a great defender).
Out of the names out there I would love to see us go for, I would want Burrell or Teixeira. Tex we won't get, it just wouldn't happen. Burrell most likely would be impossible to get as well, which is unfortunate because he would instantly become our best hitter. Most people might think "Why Giambi?" but the man still can record a .400 OBP with a lot of power. That is exactly what we need out of a DH.

It would take up a smaller percentage of payroll than Mr. Carlos Delgado

Since we have no MLB thread, figured I would post this here (especially since Toronto was a viable destination).

Does the same logic apply to these teams as well ?
