That’s completely untrue. Lots of things discussed here change what happens. Just not this one.

So school starts later, but they have to walk to school in the dark regardless because they're at school at 8:15am?

That doesn't solve the going to school in the dark problem.

Get the damn kids some flashlights or something. Reflective stripes on their back packs and clothes. Those shoes with flashing lights in them.

If we're getting them flashlights, why are we changing school hours?

That said, I think my inconvenience is worth having kids not roaming the neighborhood in the dark, where not all streets have sidewalks, and expecting them to remember flashlights, reflective vests, etc when they can barely remember their boots in a snowstorm.

I get that. Kids waiting at the end of driveways, walking on streets with no sidewalk, playing waiting for the bus, crossing the streets... all in the dark.

Yeah, I just don't think we should shift an avenue of their safety to them away from drivers.

I'll admit, before kids I struggled. Although, even before kids I loved spring forward as I feel so much better with the added hour of daylight.

Melatonin is your friend. Pop one of those and go to bed early. It'll help with the struggle.
