Any Saw fans here??
First off, this thread is not for Saw haters. If you don't like the franchise, that's cool. It's not for everyone. No need for "I hate Saw" or "Why are they still making these movies" kind of posts.
I just got back from Saw 6. I'm a huge fan of the franchise. Seen every one in the theatre on opening day, buy each DVD on opening day. Can't get enough of the story. Saw 6...I loved it. It has everything that we've come to expect. The story moves along nice and fast, and it keeps you thinkin the whole time. The question marks from Saw 5 get answered and in this one, there isn't a whole lot that hasn't been answered. To be honest, it's first Saw movie where I have thought that they could end the series and I would be happy. Also, another thing I liked was how they added a real social lesson to this movie, they had stayed away from that for a couple movies now.
They have signed on for Saw 7 and it's gonna be done in 3D, so that will be an interesting, albeit gimmicky twist.
The trademark traps are pretty good in this one. Maybe not as elaborate as previous ones, but there's plenty of difficult choices facing the victims. The gory scenes are just as bad as previous, but I have the to say, the opening scene was probably the most gruesome of the 6 movies.
If you're asking where I would rank it. I don't really like to that because to me, Saw is one big long story and I find it hard to separate them. But if I had a gun to my head, I would say Saw, 3, 6, 2, 4 and 5 would be my order of preference. I just can't get enough of this story, I find it really intriguing. Yes, it's stupid, far fetched and silly, but whatever, it's not art......It's SAW!!!!
If you're not a fan, or haven't seen the previous sequels, don't bother going. You will be bored and lost. If you have been a fan of the franchise, it's a must see.

I've only seen the first two but I've rented the third and hopefully will be able to rent 4 and 5 next week. My sister told me I should watch 4 and 5 back to back cause the beginning of 5 makes the ending in 4 make sense.

I've seen all the Saw movies, and I plan on seeing the sixth one also.
Though, as much as I like them, I wish they'd finally stop making them. Now I'm hearing about a seventh one? I jokingly told my friend after the second one that we'll probably see 10 Saw movies in total. I may end up being right on that.

I've never seen a Saw movie, horror movies aren't really my scene. What I've heard is either there great or terrible, no middle ground, why is that?

You either appreciate the story for being different and like the horror genre, or else you just can't get past the gory, twisted shock factor.
Personally, I'm of the latter.

It's really not for everyone. If you don't like seeing people getting butchered in new an inventive ways, you won't like the movies. For people like me, it's not only the elaborate traps that are appealing, it's the multi layered and complex story that continues from one movie to the next.
It's way more than the "torture porn" that it has been labelled as. If this makes any sense, it's a "thinking persons' horror movie. I know how stupid that sounds, but it's very true. It's more than a slasher movie, and there's no supernatural force that can't be stopped.

I find the horror movies of the 2000's all over the top and they try way too hard.
I'll take the classic cheese from the 70's and 80's.
Jason, Pinhead, Freddie and friends.

The first one freaked me out in the best way possible... it was such a novel idea....gory and extreme but smartly done. I was creeped out all night. I had to laugh at its absurdity just to be able to feel safe walking from my living room to my bedroom.
The second one made me think they were milking the idea and I didn't like it that much.
Thanks for this, I'll watch 3 now since it is probably better than 2.

I saw all the others beofre I saw the 1st. Only then did the Saw reference make sense, of course. Since he says "do you see what I see" quite often I thought it was the verb "saw".

I always like the stories in the saw movies, the way they explain everything is pretty cool. Add to the immense gore and unique ways the people die, I really like the movies.
Saw 1 was the best by far though.
