I might actually buy tickets. That's super cheap and while I won't make it to most of the games, for under $100 it seems like a good deal!

With that said, I have decided to take my career to the men’s pro soccer world. This is the best option for me at this time. I want to be clear in my belief that I am making this decision based on my own experiences, and my determination to be the best that I can be. I want to challenge myself in a whole new way, and push my limits on what I can achieve.

I am extremely grateful for the Calgary Foothills Men’s PDL program for welcoming me and welcoming this challenge as a club. I knew it was the right fit for me when their message was “We are a forward thinking club that are willing to provide you the opportunity to pit your wits with and against talented male players, some of our team this year have also worn the red of Canada. Here you will be judged on your ability to play at this level and not your gender.”

Well, this is out of left field. If it makes her happy then that's all that matters. But it just seems a strange decision to me.

She's trying out for the team as a goalie, what's wrong with that?

Didn't say there was anything wrong with it. I'm just not sure how leaving one of the better women's leagues in the world to play in an amateur men's league challenges her. In the end if she makes the team, good on her.

PDL would be a better level than any women’s league, so it’ll definitely challenge her. Good for her, but she’ll be in tough.

The move to Okotoks is now official.
Quote:
“The league minimum standards require 1000 seats, a press box, locker rooms, and lights to name a few, along with many other essential amenities to host pro-am soccer against the likes of professional soccer organizations such as the Seattle Sounders U23 and Portland Timbers U23.” The facility in Okotoks meets all the league requirements and will provide spectators with excellent viewing from the near 1000 seats throughout the stadium, including a reserved seating section in the middle of the park.

Okotoks is nice and all but that's too bad, I don't live in Calgary anymore but I can't say I would have been willing to drive from the NW down to Okotoks for games, I can't imagine this is going to do much for their attendance or long term viability.
I remember back in the day the Storm fighting to get a facility developed and move out of foothills/mcmahon and here we are almost 20 years later still without even a small soccer stadium in the city. At this level that size field and bleachers is all they need and that they can't manage that anywhere within Calgary is unfortunate.

I have a feeling the lack of a suitable stadium will be solved soon via that rumoured Canadian Premier League side....

Are you saying we are looking into it in a koi manner or are you genuinely saying it's possible they have?

The league has indicated that it wants teams to have modular soccer specific stadiums, so yes, Calgary has looked into it. That won't be the case in all markets (Winnipeg and Hamilton specifically will be using their CFL stadiums), but that's the direction the league wants to go.

I find it so stupid when small soccer leagues use CFL stadiums as venues. Anything less than 15k in these stadiums is just awkward and silly for the fans and players, and we're talking teams getting 1-4k fans.

The club is in the UK taking on the U23 sides of some Premier League and Championship sides the next couple weeks. They drew Reading's U-23's 1-1 this morning.
Line up is below, gives some insight into who is in the squad this year. 4 former USL players in addition to Ledgerwood and Carducci.

Shermanator is there a chance that we will have the bus from the Ship for a few games this season?
