It’s the result of sleep deprivation and road trips where everything that can go wrong does. It’s doing what you love for a fraction of what most pro players make and sacrificing everything in that pursuit.

This is the story of how I got to be in one. But it's also a story of the players whose lives never leave that state and of a team, and league, few really understand.

Kent Wilson with a look into the Jekyll/Hyde performance of the Flames in regards to their home and away performance. Includes their trailing/leading and power play analysis.

Supports what we've seen in this team being poor at home, weak on the PP and lacking killer instinct with the lead. What about all 3 at once?

However, the lack of finishing becomes even more egregious when we look at PPs when the Flames are ahead and at home. To date, Calgary has managed to score on just 2.9 percent (!!) of their PP shots in these circumstances... No wonder fans tend to curl up in a ball whenever Calgary gets a chance to finish off the bad guys with a PP (particularly in the Dome).

Just wanted to say I’ve been impressed with Kent Wilson’s pieces in the Athletic lately. He earned a very bad reputation on this board for his seemingly gleeful slams of the Flames over the years but I’m finding his work in the Athletic to be fair and on point. Worth a read.

Also, if you don't have a subscription, there are Flames articles pretty much every day from a variety of columnists. Good value in my opinion.
