Not sure what we are getting for Bennett if you trade him in the off-season.

A 3rd round pick? Similar reclamation project?

Not sure if its worth it. Trying to continue his development might be the path with the most value unless they have completely given up on him and are just looking to cut ties.

The only way they should trade Bennett is if he is part of a bigger deal that brings back a #1 RW. Like Brodie and Bennett for Stone.

I think Treliving deserves to be on a very short leash. The failure to address the need for forward scoring really stands out after the Tkachuk injury. And why get Nick Shore, if he’s not worth playing? I wouldn’t trade Bennett. At this stage he’s a solid 3rd to 4th liner energy player, and has potential for significant improvement in scoring. Same with Lazar.

Defense: keepers are Giordano (contract probably makes him untradeable), Hamilton, Hamonic, Brodie. Getting rid of Brodie now would probably be selling when you get the least value for him - he might recover with new coaching staff.

.
Treliving didn't "fail to address" scoring. He was expecting more out of Bennett and Brouwer, no doubt. That said, he said they needed scoring so he won the bidding war for Foo, signed Jagr and later made an attempt to get Kane. The moves didn't work out. Jagr wasn't good, Foo wasn't good and he thankfully didn't pay the price for a short timer like Kane.

Bennett needs to spend the summer shooting the puck. He misses constantly. He and TJ seem to have similar confidence issues. When confidence is low and the pressure is on, these guys both make stupid plays and can’t hit the net. But when confidence is high you can see the serious talent both of these guys possesses. I say keep them, unless you can get a great return.

CENTRES
11 Mikael Backlund - keep
46 Marek Hrivik - let walk
77 Mark Jankowski - re-sign
23 Sean Monahan - keep; untouchable
25 Nick Shore - re-sign
18 Matt Stajan - let walk

LEFT WINGS
93 Sam Bennett - keep
79 Micheal Ferland - keep
13 Johnny Gaudreau - keep; untouchable
15 Tanner Glass - walk
19 Matthew Tkachuk - keep; untouchable

RIGHT WINGS
36 Troy Brouwer - buyout
67 Michael Frolik - keep, but move to third line
21 Garnet Hathaway - indifferent, but good in 4th line role
20 Curtis Lazar - keep
8 Chris Stewart -walk
10 Kris Versteeg -walk

DEFENSE
44 Matt Bartkowski - walk
7 T.J. Brodie - trade, for someone like Hoffman
5 Mark Giordano - keep
27 Dougie Hamilton - keep; untouchable
24 Travis Hamonic - keep
61 Brett Kulak - keep
26 Michael Stone - trade

GOALIES
33 David Rittich - keep
41 Mike Smith - keep

Head Coach: Glen Gulutzan - fire, only if we can hire Quennville, other than that keep him as his system speaks for itself, and the odds aren't high that we see this team outplay everyone and still lose again next year like what happened this year.
Ass. Coach: Dave Cameron - fire, Clearly need a new powerplay. I think that is essentially the main reason for missing playoffs this year.
Ass. Coach: Paul Jerrard - fire
Ass. Coach: Martin Gelinas - Keep but shuffle to a new role in the organization
Goal Coach: Jordan Sigalet - fire
GM: Brad Treliving - Keep

Gaudreau - Monahan - Hoffman (traded for Brodie)
Tkachuck - Backlund - Bennett/Ferland
Bennett/Ferland - Jankowski - Frolik
Lazar - Shore - Hathaway/Mangiapane

- Backlunds line gets more offensive but remains defensively responsible enough to shutdown. Jankowski's line gets more responsible with frolik and if Janko takes another step could have two lines that can play in both offensive and defensive situations.

Gio - Hamilton
Fox/Valimaki - Hamonic
Kulak - Andersson

- Trade Brodie for someone like Hoffman then hopefully one of Fox or Valimaki will be ready to make the jump. Andersson is ready imo and can slot in perfectly fine on the third pair as well as move up if injuries happen.

Smith
Rittich

Hopefully no major injuries for Smith next year but if we can get back to how the goalies were playing before Smiths injury plus score a few more powerplay goals we should win quite a few more games.
