Vancouver Canucks Season Preview
Some notable changes for the Canucks this season, we went out and picked up a legit #1 goalie in Pekka Rinne from UFA.
We traded away our top center in Carter for a 1st and Olli Maatta, and then flipped Harmonic for Couture to replace him at centre.
Perhaps our biggest trade was shipping out Olli Joulevi and the 4th OV this past year (Cale Makar) for Jonathan Drouin, Sonny Milano and a 3rd.
Our goal was to acquire young assets that we can use to hopefully assemble a new core and work toward playoff contention. Here's a look at the starting lineup:
Z. Smith (71) - Couture (76) - Drouin(73)
Namestnikov (68) - Danault (70) - Hemsky (68)
Beleskey (64) - Pirri (65) - Miles Wood (65)
Martin (64) - Smith-Pelly (64)- Zach Kassian (64)
Myers (72) Martinez (72)
Severson (68) Maatta (67)
Oduya (67) Colin Miller (64)
Rinne (82)
Lack (64)
All in all, we'll probably still be sellers at the trade deadline again but hoping to see a significant point increase this year.
Couple notes, the following prospects: Nolan Patrick, Pierre Luc Dubois, Sonny Milano, Haydn Fleury, Joonas Korpisalo, & Will Butcher all look to have made their respective teams out of camp this year, hoping for some good rerates next year.
