I think they just need another writer or 2. Probably doing the 'ol wait and see, until their CGY subscriber base goes up to justify it, though.

Yup. If the Athletic were to take a wait and see attitude, then F them. They have to earn my loyalty, not the other way around.
That said, Kent is getting his writing legs finally, and Eric is putting more focus on the local team. Still, the 'top story' for me is the Minnesota Wild-based coverage of the last game.

The local coverage hasn’t exactly been as extensive as I’d like so far, I’m hopeful it improve though. But the subscription is absolutely worth it if you enjoy NCAA, specifically football.

I've just cancelled. The coverage of the Flames is spotty at best despite having a couple great writers at their disposal. Duha's last flames article was a week ago and even Kent Wilson's latest article was 5 days after his last.
Meanwhile Leafs coverage blankets the site and the Oilers get daily coverage or, at worst, every other day.
Also, ZERO coverage of the CFL's top team. Hell, let Capitan Crunch cover the Stamps. Better than nothing.
