I thought that was a really strong performance tonight. Pressed Pacific into mistakes and took Blasco and Bustos out of the game. Mohammed Farsi was truly top class. Pressing in a 3-5-2 suits him perfectly and he has those silky futsal skills in tight spaces.
If Pasquotti is out for Saturday, things get even thinner up front. Ledgerwood also went off so will be interesting to see where he's at on Saturday. Holding midfield is thankfully one of our deeper positions with Adekugbe, Simmons and Zebie all capable in there. Who Tommy puts in the "#10" spot will be really interesting if Pasquotti is out. Zebie? Adekugbe?
That was a very satisfying win. Completely played Pacific off the park, should have been 5-1 with actual finishing from Pasquotti and Zebie. 10 days ago they were asking "what's wrong with Cavalry?". Nothing, nothing's wrong.
3-5-2 was Cavalry's best formation last year and I think it might again prove to be the best formation this year. Having Farsi able to bomb up the pitch on the right hand side is key to that formation succeeding, particularly with all the injuries up front. If Pasquotti is injured, perhaps they go with Adekugbe as a 10? He played a more attacking role during his first 2 years with Foothills.
Nice to see Cordova get back on the pitch, hoping he is good to go the rest of the tournament.
The reffing is poor but I think something we are stuck with sadly. The Pacific goal came off of one of the most obvious goal kicks that was given as a corner that I have ever seen.
Julian Büscher has suffered a cruciate ligament tear just prior to the start of the season in the German 4th tier. He had signed in Bonn for Bonner SC of the Regionalliga West after his previous club, TuS Haltern, voluntarily relegated themselves from the same league.
