Default [GDT] SUPER BOWL LI: Atlanta Falcons vs. New England Patriots

Location: NRG Stadium, Houston, TX
Game time: 6:30pm ET
Channels: FOX, CTV, TSN

This year FOX will carry the big budget US ads in Canada.

Half-time show is Lady Gaga.

Patriots are 3 point favorites, Falcons are the 'home team'.

New England is looking for their 5th Super Bowl in 9 tries. Atlanta is aiming for their first in only their second appearance.

Should be a good game:
The best offense vs. the best defense
The MVP vs the GOAT

I've waited 18 years for this day!!! I welcome all bandwagon Falcons fans looking for the Pats to lose.

Final score prediction: Falcons 34 Patriots 30

I'm just hoping for an exciting game. I'd love to see Ryan get Atlanta their first SB, but I also enjoy seeing Brady and Belichick add to their legacy (only when its not at the Broncos expense)

I'm going to guess a 41-21 Pats win, but I hope its closer

Is it just me, or is the Canadian media fairly quiet about there being no simsub this year? Maybe they are all sticking together, hoping people won't realize and instictively tune to a CTV feed instead of Fox. I have talked to a couple people that misunderstand all of this and assume CTV will be showing the American commericals as well.

Yeah, Lady Gaga should put on an excellent show. She's revamped her image recently but she's a solid performer.

CTV is running a promo that if you watch them you have a chance to win 50k. I noticed the ctv logo currently in the corner on fox so it looks like the pregame is still being simsubbed

I think most Canadian television consumers just don't really understand the idea of Simsub. However the NFL and Bell are both making a huge deal about this on Parliament Hill and with the CRTC directly.

I definitely think a lot of people will be watching CTV thinking that they're going to get to watch the US commercials because they just don't understand how it works. There's also the fact that nowadays a lot of the commercials are released several days in advance so a lot of people have probably already seen them while watching a morning show or on YouTube or something.

As for the game normally I would cheer for the patriots but the Brady and Belichek connection to trump is pretty disgusting.

My guess is the American commercials are a one and done and we are back to simsub next year.

Anyway, I'll take a break from watching during halftime.

Cheering hard for the Falcons...if for no other reason than they have never won it and that city has had multiple playoff fails with their teams over the years.

I still think it will be a lot lower scoring than many think (watch it be a 44-41 barnburner now) and close at the end...at least hopefully its just a good game.

Why? CRTC made the populist decision since they know people have been bitching about it for ages.

Super Bowl Uniform Fact: Teams wearing white jerseys have won the last five consecutive Super Bowls, and 11 of the last 12. The Patriots will be wearing white today.

I've been waiting 18 years for Atlanta to finally get back to the Super Bowl. Should be a good game, I think it will come down to a field goal in the final seconds by either team.

Go Atlanta! The Pats have enough Super Bowls.

Also today is the one day a year I become a degenerate gambler. I've taken Atlanta on the money line, the over, first play to be a pass, Julio Jones to score the first touchdown, there will be a successful 2 point conversion, and the highest scoring quarter will be a tie. Has anyone else made any interesting bets?

Super Bowl Uniform Fact: Atlanta's Matt Ryan is poised to become the first Super Bowl starting quarterback to wear No. 2. Once he does that, the only remaining number from 1 though 19 *not* to have been worn by a Super Bowl starting quarterback will be No. 6. (The Super Bowl QB number worn most frequently is No. 12, which will be worn again today by Tom Brady.)

I made the mistake of watching some pregame during the intermission. Good old fox. Mentioned about 5 times how great America is, ran a pro NFL pro police propaganda piece about how they've solved all the issues that caused guys to kneel during the early season for the anthems, then they cut to a Bill Oreilly interview with Fuhrer Trump.

I've never wanted so badly to have them just run 5 hours of bs pregame breakdowns where they make random musings on the important of jersey colour and heartwarming stories.
