Actually on further reflection, its Christmas and you're just not worth it.
Ohhhhh. I'm not worth it. I'm so hurt.
Read the hateful, close minded rhetoric you and your like minded friends post in the Canadian Politics thread every SINGLE day. That thread is the closest thing to a CP echo chamber.
It's Christmas indeed.
Merry Christmas! Enjoy your day of solitude on the 25th.
Personally it would only cost us a buck to phone him up and tell him to go F himself.

I doubt this is going to reduce the suspicion or anger, it pretty much feels like slapping a butterfly bandage on a sucking chest wound.
Talking about loans for green tech might not mean much in a province where investment has ran away. Training for workers is a start. Finding new markets, again DiracSpike touches on it, without the transportation infrastructure its meaningless.
Just reading articles on the consultation, you can see the narrative starting by these groups in terms of court challenges and again stating that they aren't being done properly, these groups will challenge no matter how the consultations are handled until they get veto's on pipelines.
New article by Andrew Coyle on Trudeau's election strategy which is based around the hope that there's no recession before the election.
I don't know if a charm campaign is going to work this time, or a Sunny Ways style campaign. I think that Justin has given a ton of ammunition to be used against him.
But lets look at the problem. Right now all the leaders suck, Scheer, Trudeau and Singh are all in my mind terrible and bad choices to lead this country over the next four years. The Conservative plan seems random. The Liberal party performance across the ministerial level has been for the most part terrible, and the Federal NDP is gonzo.

The bill is too vague and can lead to any proposal being choked out on the map.
Again, Alberta doesn't want a simple handout, they want actual movement on the underlying issue which is getting product to tide water. At the end of the day, the money is nice and it should help but its not a long term solution at all.
Alberta doesn't want a Bombardier buy out to keep us quiet.

No this isn't going to make companies fight back, its basically made them throw up their hands and move on to invest their funds outside of the company. The biggest concern is that Bill C-69 allows the process to be hijacked by various groups. It also allows a single point of veto by the Environment Minister instead of debate by cabinet which means that there's no possibility of honest debate of the merits based on anything but the Ministers desires.
When you have CEOs of the companies that have interest in building pipelines basically stating as one that if this bill goes through that they're done wasting time and money in even looking at or bidding on projects its a industry segment killer.

Now before you say, well it hasn't been a lot of time. The UCP is already all over this with the, we don't want a handout, we want to work storyline.
With nothing in this package for rail cars I would fully expect that there is now a wide and increasing divide between the Provincial NDP and the Federal Government.

So watching CTV news, most of the Alberta Oil Companies reactions to this package is, why the heck would we be interested in loans that we don't know if we can pay it back without a guarantee of the ability to transport our product to tide water.
In otherwords nobody is going to bother apply for these funds without a guarantee of either pipelines or rail cars.Sounds like Notley isn't too impressed with this package.
Basically thanks, but you didn't listen to a word that we said, and frankly you tried to apply a cut and paste from the Steel Industry and it doesn't work.
If there was a split between the NDP Government and the Federal Liberals fells like a chasm.
She said the same thing as the Oil Companies are saying, nobody wants to go into further debt just to hang on without a guarantee of transport. Some small producers might, but for the most part its not a good solution for Alberta.

Yeah, a firm coalition between the NDP and Liberals to keep or share power would be horrifying and probably the end of pipelines as the NDP are completely anti-oilsands and anti-transmountain.

I think the worry now is he's given so much ammo to the other parties that his sunny ways debating style that worked for him in the last election is going to fall flat.

The sad thing is that Alberta and Saskatchewan are probably going to go full PC, I don't know if Ralph Goodale is going to run in the next election.
But even with that, it barely moves the needle in terms of deciding who forms the government.

She lost the messaging on Alberta withdrawing from the National Climate Change program and nothing came of it and it didn't move the needle.
At every turn she's basically been brushed off by Trudeau and the latest insult on the rail cars has kind of shown that she hasn't found a way to really hold his feet to the fire.

I said that when Trudeau was elected that if he could cut his teeth with a good cabinet that would keep him well advised and somewhat in check it would be ok. The only thing worse then Trudeau right now is his cabinet with the exception of Freeland and maybe Goodale.

Pretty much none of the companies are doing a lot in terms of capital investments and purchases, and that ranges from small companies to large companies.
When I talked to a couple of guys today they're not interested in getting loans to survive without pipeline certainty or transportation certainty, they don't basically want to go deeper into debt just to hang on and have the carpet pulled out from under them down the road. The likely path is to hunker down, continue to cut non essential spending and personal and hang on to their butts.

Trudeau is completely tone death. he makes bad decisions (Ethics), he's slow to respond which could just be laziness. He spends too much time virtue signaling and then saying stupid things (Construction rape gangs). This morning he denied that there was western alienation, and that its just evil conservatives creating it. He has very little understanding of policy, he has an even poorer grasp on economics. He's allowed himself to be captured by the political and party system, (Energy East is a no go because Quebec doesn't want it, however most provinces don't want his carbon tax but he's ramming it through).
He's superficial and vain. He's assembled a pretty terrible team of Cabinet members and then failed to control them or keep them accountable.
He's a complete hypocrite (I wouldn't have done what I did if I had known she's a reporter, but she's a woman and she interprets things differently).
Most of what he says doesn't make much sense.
There's a reason why polling of his personal numbers shows a strong dislike for him coast to coast and it isn't about him making tough decisions or doing something in the national interest, but because his combination of indecisiveness, virtue signalling and lecturing, casting wide blame nets, and bobbling every file that he puts his hands on and not having a actual vision is turning everyone off.
There is nothing in his past that has shown that he is capable? There is nothing in his past that shows that he's anything but tone deaf. (double dipping as a MP, and a poor attendance record as he skipped work to do paid appearances).

I think that right now the feeling of alienation is as bad as it was at the height of the national energy program and far worse then the 90's West wants in sentiment.
Its visceral and you can see and feel it everywhere.
There's no patience for another 4 years of Trudeau rule in Alberta and Saskatchewan. The reaction to the tone def bailout is a prime indicator of that.
From basically a historical standpoint, a Liberal Majority win is really going to enrage these two provinces, especially since they will likely have hostile anti federal governments in place.
I hate to say it, but part of me wants to see what happens.

Oh and before you start talking about the Federal Government buying Transmountain you should take a look in the mirror and shut your mouth, how many billions of dollars have we put into Quebec industry including Bombardier, which if you look up the word incompetent in the dictionary that company's logo would be there. In 2016 the deficit was 17.8
In 2017 the deficit was 28.5
The deficit this year was originally supposed to be 19 billion but the Auditor General report says its more likely to be about 26 billion
So whether its twisting the original quote to just the budget will balance itself, its a wrong statement.

I've left out the Federal Liberals and Conservatives for the most part. Because any stories usually come straight from the above sources and any comments are usually covered by the above.
Most news stories are in in the morning, so by the time I get up in the morning for the most part I have a list of articles to read while I'm having my morning coffee. Then one or two alerts might show up through the day
Its no different then reading the paper.
Then I can post them pretty much at lunch or when I have a few moments of low activity. Since I work from home and don't have the distractions of co-workers I can post.
