I'll bet those DaveArt masks are incredible when you hold them in your hands. There are so many layers, so many things he manages to get into the masks. They are not to my taste as a fan, but I'll bet the goalies themselves are always blown away by what the masks look like from two feet away.

It looks like the background that goes down the chinstrap piece. Same little grey/blue dot as well. Looks painted on to me.

The bottom half looks pretty solid (no, I don't think the wagon tire is flat) -- like the Western theme without being over the top cowboy. Not sure exactly what is happening on the top half but I'll reserve judgment until the final product is finished.

Ugh, Smith has never had good masks. The only one I can think of that I've liked was his retro Coyotes ones with the face of the hockey stick holding coyote on it.
He's been known to put his kids on his masks, so that is likely what is going on here- just western themed.
EDIT: Also- his Team Canada mask was pretty rad as well.
