Well, I still like Popsipil!

This was kind of a funny one - Flames looked like the better team for stretches, but just couldn't score. I think this is just what it looks like when one side is hard working and is good at generating things, but no elite players to really make the difference. The only elite player on the roster wasn't feeling it either, and he gets a pass since he is probably more than distracted at this point.

A game like today serves as a reminder of why the Flames are rebuilding.

Some players still looked good. Pospisil as mentioned, Zary looked good most of the way. Lots of other players looked good in spurts, including entire lines at times with sustained pressure and good chances. Again, no elite players to really bust the game open, and the opposite ended up happening.

I imagine it gets uglier before it gets better, but that's life sometimes. I am just looking forward to the trades, the changes, and watching whomever is left work hard and develop, or if they are vets, how they do and how they help the kids develop.

His PP coach has demonstrated all year that he can't get it done. I would expect Huska to get himself down there and do something.

Down 4-0 and with an absolute sliver of a chance at coming back. Calls a time out and hands the reigns over to Marc Savard to draw something up for the 5 on 3.

Huska's entire system is predicated on being the most passive hockey team possible. Waiting for the other team to mistakes may have worked in Junior, but it didn't in the AHL and it doesn't in the NHL.

Worst coaching hire of the last 20 years, and that is saying something.

That's an unreasonable expectation.
Savard is the PP coach. Unless Huska was going to fire him mid-game, it's part of his job to draw up that 5 on 3 play.

Agree with this 100%. Sharangovich seemed to slow down playing centre. I know Conroy doesn't want Zary there, but I think his patience and vision make him a natural centre.

For a little post game pick me up, I ran a fresh draft lottery simulator, and the Flames moved up to #2.
So there's that.

Head coaches go down and draw up plays all the time. It's not unusual at all. 1 shot in a 90 second 5 on 3. Sorry, that's not skill, that's a systems issue. They don't even generate chances.

Savard is the PP coach. Going in there and taking over would undermine him. He is paid to coach the PP.
Perhaps he's not the right guy. He may not be.

Anyways we get it. You hate Huska and haven't been willing to give him a chance since Day 1 and go miles out of your way to blame him for everything.

Ya that game is on the coaching…. Sureeeee. Not the players that know three vets are on the way out the door momentarily.

Oh wow. I'm new to this area, I spent most of my time in the south part of the city. But really love being more central.

I guess Wolf wasn’t the only reason they just got spanked by the Sharks.

Sheesh…
