I figure HAM gets screwed in Q3, and the track is hard to pass on.

All of which I agree with 100%, except Max is so completely unlikable.

Still early but halfway thru Q1 and the top 14 are separated by 7 tenths. That’s bonkers.

Un-####ing-believable. Crushing it and ####s up the final turn. Max blinks and makes an error when he had pole basically wrapped up.

Verstappen was smoking on that lap. I'm guessing he'd have put another .200 or more gap on pole if he got clean put of the final turn. Stupid brake lock up.

Hopefully that pace stays through the race tomorrow. More importantly, hopefully he doesn't have to swap a gearbox.

That was an excellent Q3. Hamilton gained 0.5s in his last lap from an extra turn of front wing and Verstappen was absolutely flying. He gave himself no margin the entire lap and was great to see...hero or zero. Wonder if he did clip the T4 wall at the start.

I just hope Ver can keep his head on straight for tomorrow. He can't go back to Crashtappen or its over. Just look at his dad's reaction in the pits...

I don't see how that's not at least suffered minor damage from that crash.

Will be interesting to see what they do. Take the 5 place penalty knowing its not a huge ask to finish P2 and fight another day.
Or go with the one they have risking a dnf and possibly handing the title to Lewis.

I think outside of terrible weather that's possibly the most dangerous qualifying I've seen. Think they'll do well to get out of tomorrow without a major incident.

To add to the drama RBR has appealed the no penalties to Hamilton/Mercedes after the double yellow flag incident in FP3.

I figured they would. Curious to know if they would have appealed had Max locked up pole. Probably.

Edit: I don't think they are appealing?

The first 20 or so laps are going to be intense I think. I'm guessing 3 safety cars.

Yeah, just read similar. They mustve seen the data/FIA report or something. I believe they only had 30min after the end of the session to appeal, so that's not very much time. Especially with a damaged car.

This could be the type of race where pitting under a safety car is the difference between winning and losing.

Maybe Checo can be the ultimate teammate and gift Max a discount pit stop by losing it into the wall at just the right moment. But those sort of shenanigans would never happen in F1, right?

Well I’ve just lost a ton of respect for Danny Ric. What a pathetic response. Geez sorry people getting murdered and persecuted is too much drama for you. What an ass.

BTW McLaren is owned by dictators who are super into persecution so it’s not surprising he wouldn’t be as outspoken as Lewis but this is still a piss poor answer.

Clean start, I wonder if the undercut will be powerful here?
