Yup, not saying we needed to get Stone. But people who early in the season said guys like Hathaway were expendable over guys with more skill are crazy. Yes the object of the game is to score more goals but if you have a line up of all skill you are going to get RUN OVER. Need people who can play physical. Playoffs is all about intimidation. Usually the more physical team wins out.

The signing price was likely a little higher for the Flames, plus we would have ****ed up our cap structure no matter what he cost.


Having said that I really wanted him, even for Valimaki and unfortunately his acquisition sweepstakes between the Flames and Vegas could very well end up being the difference in who goes to the finals, imo.

But I totally understand the other side of not wanting to pay the price. It's what makes sports management so difficult.

have you guys never watched playoffs before? changes so much from game to game or series to series. Is Vegas really playing that great? IDK...SJ was a tire fire the last month and has a terrible goalie. That being said if they win the next game they are back in the drivers seat.

Well they got the 10th (?) best player as they felt from each organization having strong depth up and down your line up has been shown to be more successful then top end talent and nothing after. Look at how 3 of the top 5 scorers this year are on non playoff teams.
