Default 80th Anniversary of Dieppe

“Stones he whispered, you never forget the feeling and the sound of these stones beneath your feet”

“Today marks the 80th Anniversary of Operation Jubilee, the raid on Dieppe, a pivotal moment in the history of the Essex Scottish (now Essex and Kent Scottish), and indeed all of Canada”.

A guest column in today’s Windsor Star, mentions my Dad, Ian MacDonald, who was 21 on this day in 1942. This trip was something I will never forget.

Not sure why the link won’t work?

World War II, man.

The scale of the conflict is staggering.

A crazy event that history does not remember nearly enough. If it wasn't for this raid to test the feasibility of an amphibious landing, and the lessons learned, then d-day would have looked completely different
