Celebrated Square Root Day

Lol, Mackinnon is $12.6AAV (AAV is all that matters in terms of comparing players against the salary cap). "Top centres make $15mil now" based on one player who counts for $12.6 against the cap and a generational talent who will likely make $15AAV in three years, was hyperbole.

Lol all you like
The point is he wasn't given a contact of a 100 point dominant center. 7M is like a 60 point guy good in the other areas.
It shouldn't be going this bad but it is. I'm not defending the player but the contract isn't even bad if he was just playing half decent. Nobody expected a repeat of career highs.
We were also discussing buyouts so no AAV isn't all that matters. The fact his salary and AAV are even is a good thing.

Both the Kadri and Huberdeau deals were expected to be poor on the last 3-4 years of the deal. Nobody, however, expected them to be poor from the start. There is not silver lining with this at all so far. You have to hope for a bounce-back, but so far, neither one can be considered an asset.

they are both flops, hoping connie can find a way to trade them, we could have done much better with the $ imo.
I was really pumped when we got huby and thought he would be awesome, thought Kadri would be good and have an edge but he's not even bringing that edge!

That's not true, especially for Kadri lots of concern about both deals right from the start.

Absolutely, look at Kadri's stats year of year before the contract year. Foolish contract IMO and said that during the day of signing.

My favorite comment from the beginning of this thread:
"And now we have a core group that actually wants to play for the team."
Not going to name the poster as we all thought this. And we thought Kadri was going to be this antagonistic presence and a pest to our rivals.
The lack of give a **** in his game is shocking.

Reading back the thread from the beginning... what comes to mind is, how can we really be crucifying Brad for these moves? They were enthusiastically praised by all but a very small portion of the fanbase at the time they were made...

I don't necessarily disagree but at the same time Treliving is paid a lot of money to be smarter than the average, or in CP's case the hardcore, fan.
