Guess we'll be seeing more of Johnny's family up in Calgary.

Bit of a misleading verbiage by Francis there trying to stir up a story.
The Calgary Flames didn't sign anybody if they are AHL/ECHL contracts, that means the Stockton Heat signed some players.

It's not misleading so much as inexact. The Flames organization certainly signed them, since that organization includes the subsidiary teams.

We need to trade for Freddy Gaudreau so we have the complete set.

Anybody else I'd give the benefit of the doubt.
Francis knew exactly what he was doing in wording it that way and trying to create a bit of false controversy of "Oh look they signed Gaudreau's brother to make him happy"

I think him being related to Johnny would have an impact on him being signed for Stockton Heat though.
Reminiscent of Richie Regehr, Freddie Hamilton, Pete Vandermeer etc. (Though this is only an AHL contract)

Last time this signing a lesser brother thing happened, they traded the better brother a year later.

If you are talking about Freddie Hamilton, he came to Calgary in 2015-16, the same year Dougie Hamilton was traded for. They both stayed with the franchise for three years.

Over the years the Flames have had a ton of lesser brother signings. Darryl Sutter did it often. The only one that was rumoured to be sour at the end was the Hamilton's.

Making Johnny happy is only a positive, but as long as he doesnt expect his brother to get the Freddie treatment

I cant stand that guy. Not only does he always seems to play well against the Flames, the announcers saying his name always throws me off too.
As far as I'm concerned, he is the false Gaudreau.
