The man who literally has a room in his house where the press meets every day has been "silenced". Trump supporters are hilarious.

Don't you just breakup Facebook into; Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc?

Trump could call Fox News right now and they'd probably have him on. He's not being silenced. Even if Fox News shuttered tonight, he still has an entire media communications apparatus at his disposal.

Don't worry, this power will only ever be used against bad people.

What power? The ability of a private company to enforce their terms of service? There are plenty of other platforms he can use to lie and incite violence.

Do you believe that there should be no accountability for someone that breaks the TOS? What about the law? Even if that person is really famous?

Lol. You think this is the first time this power has been used? And that good people have never been banned?

More like you only notice and care now that’s it’s trump. Before you didn’t give a ####.

Why are people trying to make this out to be some sort of assault on his rights and freedoms?

Twitter is a product, and they have terms of service (just like most any product). If you break those terms, you lose your privilege to use it. Period.

If you are at a public swimming pool and it says no jumping or diving, and you continually do running cannonballs, you are eventually going to be banned from the pool. That does not eliminate your freedom to swim, it simply means you can't play in this pool anymore.

Same difference (except Trump's cannonballs include a giant skid mark up the back of his bathing suit).

The issue is that at some point a company starts becoming a utility.

Google and Apple preventing the loading of Parler on phones is much more concerning. That’s a monopoly that that needs regulation.

I disagree. They are removing an app that has been co-opted for extremists.

I would assume that if there was an app used for illegal drug trafficking, for human trafficking, for child porn, etc, then those would be removed as well.

I agree, but in the meantime I expect them to self regulate and that means not allowing people to use their services to attempt to destroy the US, that includes Osama Bin Laden or Donny boy as there is no difference between them

Don’t Trump and gang regularly chat and plan down in the deep web or dark web or whatever it is anyway? What’s the big deal?

Dude, marginalized people have actually literally been silenced by people in power for literally hundreds of years. A loudmouth bully with every available resource at his fingertips to broadcast his message has been banned from using Twitter and somehow this an egregious overreach? Remember when Colin Kaepernick lost his job for kneeling during an anthem? Or Jamal Khashoggi was literally killed for doing his job? These are actual examples of powerful entities enforcing their will on people.

The net benefit is a win though and if the extremists want to go make their own phone company and subsequent app stores nothing is stopping them?

I don’t see why Apple or Google should have to be carriers of hate speech?

And let’s be honest. The latitude these tech companies have shown to this point is enormous. I’m amazed it took this long. I think their patience with this nonsense has been monumental.

This is a huge win for society and I don’t see the risks the way you do I guess.
