Columbus was way off when he named the native Caribbeans "Indians".

Cleveland has handled it quite well. They didn't give immediately just because there was pressure and also didn't defy while the pressure built and have to succumb to it, looking like idiots. They just quietly put a plan in place to phase it out gracefully and have now fully followed through. Great work.

A large percentage of astronauts are from Ohio, including John Glenn and Neil Armstrong.
They should call them the Astros. That would be a good name for a baseball team.

As an aside I always thought Gord was indicting the Indians baseball organization in a song that is otherwise a punch to the face of white Canada and our institutionalized racism towards our Indigenous population, without directly naming the team.

And the Himmler on this one is there's no dessert

Good News! You get to vanish
Go to Cleveland, be an indie smash
The good news is now you're smaller
The bad news is you can be smaller than that

I said this was in the works years ago.
They took any reference from the team name away on the uniforms, caps, etc. The branding was all Cleveland and the C.
I don't recall if that was before or after they stopped using the Chief Wahoo mascot.
Glad to see the change happening. The fact the world didn't end after Washington's football team changed theirs likely made the decision easier.

The only good thing about the Cleveland Baseball team was Major League.
So by default the name should be either the Cleveland Wild Things or the Cleveland Jobu
