Default Recommend me a Catholic Church

Hi, my friend and I are looking into a legit, local Catholic community and its church. I was hoping for anyone Catholic here to suggest one for me.

Respectfully, Please PM me rather than posting it here

While I understand many on CP are anti religion, please respect this request

Thanks

I'm sure there's lots in Calgary, while I'm not interested in religion, friends tell me sacred heart is great and has a big following with a very active community.

P.S. pineapple is great on pizza

Crap, missed the PM thing

i feel that almost every church has it's own active community and you need to get involved. Although that maybe a little harder right now given the situation

Why not make this easy, and try the closest church to your house and go from there.

I feel like a church is like many things, a beer league team, ball team or any type of group and that is to try it out.

Different people can think things are good.

I would follow the recommendation of starting close to your home and working out from there.

Hit up a number of churches and see what fits.

I don't believe in god, but if I did and needed to find a place to meet with him/her/it this is what I would do.

I would test drive some churches and let them know I was test driving.

Back in the day when I was a little more religious, when I moved to Dallas, I decided to find a church and part of the fun for me to be honest was going through that selection process of going to a lot of different churches to sample their services, and their communities. It was a lot of fun.

I even went to some of the crazier churches with faith healing and I found one that used snakes in their services. I went to the extremely large evangelical churches not to join them but to see them.

At the end of the day, when I was searching I settled on the one that made me the most comfortable, wasn't over the top on the messaging, and had a fairly laid back congregation.

Especially these days, finding recent online services from congregations is pretty easy.

Find a congregation close to you, watch an online service or two, to see if it fits what you are looking for.

That perhaps doesn't give you all the information you are looking for, but it's a good start. You can get a pretty good feel for a church before even attending.
