This thread sounds like the "Jump to Conclusions" mat from "Office Space." Let's trash Conroy, the Flames, everybody involved, the player, the draft pick, etc., because we all magically know what actually happens behind closed doors.
Do I like it? I don't know. I would much rather wait and see than putting everyone up against the wall and shooting them.
Sharangovich has played 205 games in the NHL. He's not some kid we're rushing judgment on.

There are posters in here that anything less than a massive overpayment by some team for a 1 year rental coming off his career would have been satisfying. I like it, you get a good young player who got buried in NJ and a 3rd in a very deep draft. You also get cap space as Toffoli will be looking for a big payday. Deals are hard to make right now with everyone weapinizing cap space.

Toffoli had 73 points last season
Sharangovich at 30 and was scraped in playoffs.
We trade a older top 6 forward for a young 3rd line forward.
The baffling thing is, what is this team trying to accomplish?
If we're competing this is bad. If we're rebuilding this is bad.
Maybe this should be a sign to the team.
Old UFAs have little value. We got fleeced in the tkachuk trade.
Maybe we should wait and see how this all plays out because last year at this time we were overjoyed with the return for Tkachuk and most analysts said we fleeced Florida. Didn’t quite turn out that way…
If Sharangovich projects to Toffoli's average production while being faster and bigger, I don't think people will have a problem with this in a couple years.

So he wanted to be here, even after the coach that he wasn’t at odds with and put up a great season with, was let go.
But Flames didn’t do a deal with him when he got back from captaining the WHC team, and, clearly some other things occurred or didn’t occur around the organization in the last two weeks, that made him do a 180.
Huska as coach? Savard? Other players wanting out he wasn’t aware of before? Or not signing players he thought they were?
If things go well and the team enjoys success maybe they even come back around by then.
Conroy needs to stand his ground either way.
I don't love the "hold on to them until the TDL" approach. If you want out then its best to cut bait and avoid any distractions to the team. (Perhaps Lindholm wants to stay...so that may be different)
I get the attraction of waiting for the best deal from an "asset management" point of view, but if the rumours are true, I'd be finding ways to get my locker room fit and feel in the positive and have no drama going forward into next season.

Flames are 100% baking on their pro scouts having found a gem here.
Or they're half-baked.
Underwhelming on the surface, it seems like they should have been able to get more current value. The wildcard is future value. If Sharangovich improves and Toffoli declines it might even out.
