I don't disagree with you regarding unions when it comes to the oil and gas industry.

I think most Albertans would actually be shocked by how much Union support there is for Canadian O&G out east. While they are vocal in their support, I can’t help but wonder how much more vocal they would be if the government of the province they were trying to support worked with them instead actively trying to go to war with them. Same could be said about a lot of the O&G companies.

The current line is operating as normal. The expansion project is under construction in various areas with pipe in the ground in several places.

I was wondering why oil was ripping again today and realized there was another attack on a Saudi oil facility.

With COVID its easy to forget that there are these macro events that can materially impact the supply side of oil.

Transmountain stuff...
Home page about this ~70yr old company: https://www.transmountain.com/who-we-are
You can link to the TMEP section for current updates. Project is moving along relatively smoothly and according to their schedule. All "spreads" between Edmonton and Burnaby being executed simultaneously.

Here's a B.S. article... which seems to be written from an eastern-Canada liberal green-is-great perspective rather than national energy/revenue perspective:
https://globalnews.ca/news/7482212/c...untain-report/

Here's why the TMEP *is* still a great idea for Western Canada (primarily allows tidewater access and having only 1 customer):

BMO said it has made “the financial decision for an orderly wind-down of our non-Canadian investment and corporate banking energy business.” Going forward, the company said by email, its capital markets energy business will be focused on Canada.

The crap CBC article talks about emissions but does not state what emissions are offset by NOT transporting by rail cars and trucks not the dramatically improved safety component of the pipeline compared to these modes of transportation. Lastly the article does not state either that this ensure access of Canadian energy to tidewater and worldwide sales versus being reliant upon only USA customers.

Also in an article about construction costs due to Covid why are emissions brought up.

It really is not a well structured article... left me wondering what exactly they were trying to get at starting in one direction and then incompletely going somewhere else with a few odd turns. My high school kid does a far better job, but then they are pretty smart and think critically.

Most spending plans released for 2021 seem reasonably optimistic. Having oil at $45 makes a huge difference.

Looking at the contractors, not surprised they're having safety issues
