I hope mangi keeps 88 permanently. He has been a perfect bottom 6 player for us and a real "deadline acquisition" from within.

Great game, they looked a little nervous to start but once the penalty parade settled down they took it over. Awesome to see Smith dishing out crow dude looked unconscious out there tonight. Depth for the win love it, super solid defensive game and they just shut it down in the third, what's not to like.

Love this coaching staff and great to see everyone gelling.

Thanks to the fans for loud cheers especially the ones for Smitty!

Pre-series storylines: Flames questionable PP; Flames questionable PK; Flames questionable goaltending.

Game one: Questions answered.

True.

You do, though, have to wonder what kind of game it may have been if Smith hadn't made those clutch saves when the game was still 0-0.

Smith played well but he certainly didn't steal it or anything

Flames dominated 5 on 5
The Avs had many high quality looks, and Smith shut down every one of them. He was relentlessly on pucks, his poke in the slot was great, and his demeanour was infectious.

He was the first star. Probably the first start of the night across all three games.

I thought Frolik/Backlund/Tkachuk did an excellent job of setting the energy level early, then, shutting down the Av's only threatening line.

The only way they could get McKinnon going was to play him 30 mins. Head to head against 3M, 3M dominated.

Could be a factor in the series.

Jankowski line had trouble getting any traction. Had some good shifts though.

Liked Lindholm getting engaged, Johnny looked good. Wasn't crazy about Monahans game.

Perhaps hidden in the hoopla, Brodie was really good.

Well in the GDT I was critiquing the Flames for starting Smith and I am gladly going to eat my words on that one. He was incredible from beginning to end. Wow.

Avalanche were able to carry in their momentum from the season, but the Flames are a much much fresher team and the ice really tilted in their favor for the second half. You know a team is tired when Johnny looks like a wrecking ball out there.

There is a reason forwards don't play 25+ minutes a night, especially in the playoffs. They will fade as the series goes on.

Loved Hamonic's game tonight. That stick on the 2on1 was glorious.

The chants for Smitty really warmed my heart. He was outstanding.
