I would love to get Lehner, but for better or worse it seems like this wagon is hitched to Rittich.

Unless Lehner is asking for more money than Bobrovsky, I wonder why the Isles would be looking elsewhere after the season Lehner had. Seems odd to me.

I don't disagree but Lou is pretty adamant about having an elite goalie as part of his team building philosophy. I think Bobrovsky is a surer bet to continue that moreso than Lehner in his mind. really that simple I'm guessing.

I don’t see it. He probably wants $6M on a long term deal. Flames are bargain bin shopping this summer as all their money is spent. The Flames hopefully create breathing room by moving Frolik and/or Brodie but that won’t allow them to spend big elsewhere unless the bridge Tkachuk which I doubt happens

I still think Lehner is smoke and mirrors, and he will now capitalize after having a career season at the best possible time. Some team is going to be sorry IMO, guess we will see.

Top six or nothing. Maroon would hardly move the needle if at all.

Meh, Maroon's an upgrade over Hathaway. As long as it's not big bucks, sure.

SN reporting Pointe has a deal that ranges somewhere between 8-9.5 million per on a long term deal...i think thats what i heard anyhow.
Also reporting Aho looking for 9.5 per.
All this was entirely predictable though.

Still working to confirm this ( )but Joe Pavelski's been spotted with with the Tampa crew at their development camp today. That Pointe contract doesn't leave them with much wiggle room cap wise.

Depends on what he’s asking for. On a deal like the one he signed with the Blues I’m fine with it. I can’t imagine the Flames are offering much with the way their cap situation is set up.
Anything more than 2 years for $2-3 million AAV and I agree it’s another Brouwer in the making.

The thing with Maroon though is you know what you are getting...he has been what he is for almost his whole career. No one should expect more than 25 or 30 points and a tough to play against North/South game. Good team mate and a vocal leader from all accounts.
So if you are bereft of such in your room, and pay him accordingly, then there is little problem adding him IMO.

Used to be UFA's got the big bucks, now RFA's are getting the big bucks too, at some point it's going to come to a head where there is no cap left. Teams are blowing their brains out with all of these long term huge money deals. In a year or so there are going to be good players up for contract and no money to sign them, sucks for our window but it would be good to try and keep some flexible cap space for next year and the year after. Just say no to big money/term UFA's Brad.

This was not Lehner's first good season, which is saying a lot considering how big of an obstacle his mental health has been.
Smoke and mirrors? I highly doubt that. The team that signs him is going to be happy they did.

He's always had inflated save percentages due to a higher than average amount of low danger shots against. Then this season he got to play behind a Barry Trotz defensive scheme.
Pretty odd that the team he just had a Vezina nomination quality season playing for doesn't seem to want to pony up the dough to keep him. And it's not because they have a young star prospect goalie waiting in the wings either.
Maybe he's the real deal, but I'm not buying it. Time will tell.
