Drive the price up Myers! Can't wait until the Canucks give him 9 million over 8 years.

I am sure that this is a temporary policy for NYR to see them through the present period of restocking and rebuilding. NHL teams will not be able to follow this procedure as they become more competitive.

Flames don’t have near the buying power the Rangers do. NY is a far more attractive market for players than Calgary. Maybe the Flames just steer clear of free agency altogether? Treliving’s big signings have been pretty much his worst moves

I'd be happy if the Flames never went UFA fishing again. Ever. Unless it's a one year show me deal of course. Those multiyear deals almost always blow up in our face.

Defensive minded coach to teach systems: CHECK-Joel Quenneville
Shutdown top 4 defenseman to play with Matheson: TBD
Starting goaltender: *Possibly signed Bobrovsky at $8 million per year.
Scoring winger to play with Barkov: *Possibly signed Panarin at $9.5 million per year.
3rd/4th line veteran checking center: TBD
3rd/4th line veteran checking winger: TBD
Huberdeau-Barkov-*Panarin (Holy hell is that a scary line)
Dadonov-Trocheck-Hoffman
Vatrano-UFA-Malgin
UFA-Borgstrom-Sceviour
Ekblad-Yandle
Matheson-UFA
Weegar-Pysyk
*Bobrovsky-Reimer
LTIR-Luongo
Coach: Joel Quenneville
So even with those big UFA signings, they would have anywhere between $3-7 million to find some final pieces to fill out the lineup. It's entirely possible that they let guys like Tippett and Heponiemi start the year on the team and then add at the trade deadline. But much of this hinges on them getting their big UFAs, mostly Bobrovsky.

I wonder what Ferland gets in this market, I believe he expected a huge pay raise but with the cap being as tight as it is I wonder if it’s a lot lower than expected.
If the flames had the space and the number reasonable do they make him an offer?

Ferland might be one of those guys who needs to take one of the first deals that's offered or when the music stops he might find himself without a chair and signing a bargain deal somewhere. Like Maroon last off season.

Out of thanks. Agreed. Didn't realize how well-setup the Panthers are.

Ferland's exactly the type of mid-tier player who could get squeezed. Great add to a roster, but only after the Big Dogs get fed first.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Heponiemi on that roster soon either.
46 points in 50 games for Karpat. Aho like numbers for the team in his first year following up on crazy WHL numbers.
Maybe on Borgstroms LW as soon as this year.

Wondering if Donskoi isn't a good target for a cheap ufa RE. I like his game and think he could be a good fit in CGY

According to Wikipedia, Pat Maroon is a certified beauty.

Actually, if Dallas didnt tender a QO to Hartman, I'd take a look at signing him too. We need a middle six grit guy pure RW. Really though, I wanted the Flames to draft Hartman over who they took in that draft in Klimmer and Poirier. That's all. I think hes a gamer. Weird hes been shuffled around so much.

Yup they didn’t but intend to still sign him
And he doesn’t even know he’s been traded

Yeah, but I always hedge my bets on rookies sticking in the opening night lineup. However, I'd love to see a kid line of Heponiemi-Borgstrom-Tippett just for a few games. Glimpse of the future.
