Interesting to see NHL/AHL journeyman Tyson Strachan as a tryout. He would bring a veteran presence to the blue line and a much needed right shot if he does get signed. Was cut from the Coyotes on a PTO.

Most of the new name tryouts are from the ECHL affiliate Mavericks, so wouldn't get too excited about them. Likely only around to fill out practice rosters until the Flames assign more players to Stockton and ECHL camps start up.

You can listen to the Heat play the Bakersfield Condors in pre-season AHL action.

1-1 Heat so far.

Poirier just scored an absolute beauty shortie. 2-1 Heat.

Didn't listen to the final period, but Poirier was named la première étoile.

Robak, Poirier, Cramarossa, and Shinkaruk with the goals for the Heat. Sounds like Rittich had a good game.

The Heat played an afternoon game in San Jose today. Parsons played the first two periods and stopped all 21 shots he faced. McDonald came in for the third and allowed one goal, and another in OT. The Heat lost 2-1 in OT.

Mike McMurtry scored the lone goal for the Heat on the PP (assists to Foo and Ollas-Mattsson).

By all accounts, Parsons looked great and made a few spectacular saves.

per Brandon Kisker, McDonald has been assigned to Kansas City.

Heat still have a 3 headed monster with Gillies-Riitich-Parsons

I really hope Kylington-Robak is a thing this year and we stick with it. Stockton was so good with that pair before they let Robak go.

any ideas on potential line combos and pairings?
My guess without seeing any games or hearing any reports would be something like:
Mangiapane-Jankowski-Foo
Shinkaruk-Hrivik-Poirier
Cramorossa-Klimchuk-Hathaway
Gazdic-Pelley-Lomberg
Findlay-Pollock-Smith
Pribyl(inj)- Carroll

Kylington-Andersson
Wotherspoon-Healy
AOM-Doetzel
Yevenko
is Robak signed? if so i assume he gets top 4 minutes.

Hopefully

Mangiapane-Hamilton-Poirier
Klimchuk-Hrivik-Foo
Shinkaruk-Lomberg-Smith
Gazdic-Pelley-Brouwer
Cramarossa, Pollock
Pribyl inj'd but hopefully in the top 6 when healthy

Kylington-Robak
Healey-Andersson
AOM-Doetzel
Bartkowski

Rittich
Gillies

Best combination of an actually good team while also developing the players who have the most potential to actually help the Flames down the road

One has to wonder if MacDonald gets loaned to another ECHL club.

The Stockton Heat, proud AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, announced today that the club has signed veteran defensemen Cody Goloubef and Colby Robak to AHL contracts. In addition, the club has assigned goaltender Tyler Parsons and forward Mike McMurtry to the club’s ECHL affiliate, the Kansas City Mavericks and have released Dylan Olsen and Dan Maggio from their tryouts.
They released Strachan earlier this week.

Opening Nighr roster:
Hathaway
Pelley
Foo
Shinkaruk
Jankowski
Klimchuk
Cramarossa
Carroll
Poirier
Pollock
Mangiapane
Smith
Findlay
Nowick
Lomberg
Gazdick

Healey
Kylington
Wotherspoon
Andersson
Yevenko
Robak
Goloubef
Mattsson
Doetzel

Gillies
Rittich

And yes Jankowski is in Stockton and expected to play tonight.
