Grandfathered 10 GB for $60 plan price increase?
Just wondering if anybody else is/was on that promo that the big 3 were offering in December 2017- call, text and 10 GB of data for $60. We went on it for my son's account, and we were notified that the price was going up to $70 starting in April. When I called in, the best they could offer me was:
6 GB for $65
15 GB for $70.
Just wondering if this happened to others; the rep said Bell and Rogers had already bumped theirs up.
I know there are ways onto other plans if I want to mess around with provinces. I just don't want to deal with the hassle.

Did you change your phone or is this just them raising the price?

No change to the phone. We did the BYOD thing.

Sounds to me like 70 for 15gb is the way to go then since they're going to increase it anyhow to that level you may as well benefit. Fwiw I'm on the 10gb plan on Koodo and I have not been told of any increase

Lots of talk about this online. Sounds like Telus will port your number to Koodo for free, waiving $35 activation fee. Koodo still offers the 10gigs for $60.
Telecoms are such crooks in this country.

I was with Rogers when this deal came out. They refused to offer me the 10GB for $60 and told me to switch (this was before all of the big 3 were matching the promo).
I switched to Fido and just saw they bumped it to $65/month for 10GB.

You probably won't. Virgin is not one of the big 3 as Ken was talking about.

Virgin Mobile = Bell

Now, it appears the inevitable has arrived, as Bell and Virgin have also decided to increase the price of this $60/10GB BYOD plan to $65 per month, starting in March.

Interesting. I switched to Koodo for the $60/10 GB because I didn't trust the big companies to keep it.
Haven't heard anything yet but since Koodo = Telus I'm sure its going up soon too.

I'm being offered this with Koodo:
Get a $60 15GB rate plan when you upgrade to select phones with Tab Small and up. Pick an eligible phone and go to the plans page to redeem. Offer valid until February 28, 2019. Conditions apply.

Any way you can send me the details of that offer? Seems like a no-lose solution.

I wonder if they'll honour that on a long time BYOD customer

I just noticed the footnote on my last Fido bill. From $60 to $65 per month.
Dirty and not unexpected from the big providers. x2 with my wife's line and that's another $120/year into the oligopoly for nothing.
The price increase doesn't bother me as much as the collusion between the providers. If they staggered their increases a little bit it would give the impression of not colluding, but they aren't even trying to hide it.

Just got a new phone with Koodo yesterday in Red Deer (here for Canada Games) and I actually got a 15GB plan for $60. I do have a Manitoba # and opened my account there.
