Toronto? Good team
Wild? Fighting for their lives, Just beat Tampa 3-0

Flames could/should have won some of these games and are not playing their best for sure but that was not an easy stretch of games.

Consistent home games with practice time is something the team hasn't had since before the ASB...the favorable schedule starts now, not to say anything is guaranteed or should be taken for granted. I agree they have to play better no matter who the opponent is.

Yeah. 2 bubble teams and 2 they should be competitive against. Before that stretch people were penciling in 5-6 points.

At least we agree they need to do better

You always know you have a weak argument when you have to provide excuses for everything.

Fact is teams are ramping it up and this team is laying a massive egg right now and looks like ####. 5 goals in 4 games says it all.

Last night's game was huge. They put one in the win column to break the losing streak. Also a statement game, as we can all agree CP is a better place today because their lead on Vegas is 10 instead of 6. Vegas is 9 behind SJ, but play them a couple times which adds an interesting wrinkle to the Pacific race.

I will post the updated magic number and seven game segments later, but it probably is worth noting that the Flames magic number has been reached with the Canucks. Flames ROW advantage was the final nail in the coffin. That and the Canucks are no good.

It looks like the flames will end up finishing second behind the sharks barring a sharks collapse. The Sharks have an easier schedule from here on in.

Easily our worst stretch this season, if you look at the 10th segment.

Here are the magic number as it relates the Flames vs the other teams. Red fill indicates team can not match or pass the Flames in ROW, so magic number has been adjusted accordingly.

The key teams to target are:

Arizona (4.5) for the Flames to clinch a playoff spot.
Vegas (7.5) for home ice for at least the first round.
SJ (14) for Pacific Division and more than likely top seed for the Western Conference.

Time to go on another heater!

Sharks are due for a string of losses too. Just in time.

There are 13 games left and they are 1 pt apart. It's a coin toss.

I think we'll need 9-3-1 to take the conference. the Sharks don't do a lot of losing in 2019.

We have the better sched for sure though.

We will need to get 1 more pt than the Sharks.

I don't put a lot of weight in quality of competition. Every year at this time people talk about easy opponents, but bottom feeders play loose, and any team can beat any other team at any time.

The difference could very well be that 79th game where Calgary and SJ play. If it does come to it, our last game against EDM and their's against COL are both Saturday night games.

Winnipeg beating a tired SJ tonight would be huge.

We could jump back ahead of SJ by 1 point, regain a 1 ROW lead as well, and be even in games played.

I have a feeling the race will come down to that final game in SJ March 31st. Again, SJ will be playing the 2nd night of a back to back that game though. Gotta take advantage!
