Both of those teams scare the shirt out of me. But the good news is a lot of other nifty things have to happen before we would have to worry about that. And then - what a nice ting to worry about!
You are absolutely right about Boston. They looked unbeatable in that first game v. Tampa in the playoffs last year, but then it all unravelled in no small part thanks to Brad Marchand's stupidity. If they can keep him on task, then the Bruins are a good bet to at least give the Lightning a scare. I think they can beat them.

The Bruins will always have a special place in my heart for keeping the Stanley Cup out of Vancouver. If they also manage to topple the Lightning I might have to start cheering for them as my second team.

The Rangers should also have a special place in your heart. The Bruins did topple the Lightning in 2011.

It looks like it already did. The crispy snake on the first page has 12 points over the black line at the top of the graph. Now it's 15

That's why it is imperative for the Flames to win the conference (finish 1st), because they'll have a far easier road than any other team in the west. Never any guarantee of course, see Chicago when they got swept by Nashville for a perfect example. However, the more you can stack the deck in your favour, the better chance for us to have to worry about what the east is doing.

This has been by far the most fun, bizarre and wild season that I and all of us (at least under the age of 40) have ever experienced.

It seems so weird that the Flames are just manhandling teams even when they aren't playing well. We have a 7 game winning streak where the first line played well in only the last of them. Just ridiculous.

With the oilers losing last night the blue snake drops to 12.610 points below the black line, but is still 5 points ahead of the orange snake. The blue snake will officially end the season below the black line, as even if the oilers go 14-0-0 during the rest of the season, the blue snake will only be at 95 points.

The blue snake spent the last 49 games, and 67 of the last 68 games below the black line. The last time it was above the black line was after the conclusion of game #33. It spent 8 game above the black line and 74 below it.

If the Canucks lost last night, why is their snake rising? BAD SNAKE!

Good catch. That was a bad error on my part. I was trying to figure out when they missed 96, and didn't update the graph. Graphs have been updated.

Magic number down to 5 games. Coyotes can get a max of 101 points, but Flames hold the tie breaker since they won the season series.

With two wins in a row, the red snake is trending in the correct direction again. Tonight's win moves the red snake to a 11.049 points above the black line, 15 points above the purple snake, and 12 points above the orange snake. This marks the 50th consecutive game above the black line, with a minimum of 9 more guaranteed. A record of 1-10-1 (0.125 point percentage) in the remaining 12 games would give the red snake 96 points. It is currently on pace for 109 points.

That would imply they showed Toronto an early exit, so yes in that case I agree.
