You wonder how they weighted the travel thing because the first 7 teams are in the West and that seems very odd.

Obviously they rate the Pacific division as weak, because they take 6 out of the top 11 easiest schedules, and 7 out of 16.

Yeah they must take quality of competition into consideration that would make sense with these ratings.

I don’t think these guys know how rankings work if Calgary is #1 in SOS but their tweet claims Ottawa has the toughest schedule.
I’m assuming that’s a typo and they meant easiest schedule.

Yeah now that I think about it some more, if the top three hardest schedules are OTT, NYR, DET and the top three easiest are CGY, VGK, COL... I'll eat one of Kendall Jenner's pubes.

I'm guessing that's backwards, though I think Ottawa has the worst schedule for playing as rested aginast a tired opponent and vise versa, so maybe not.

Are Flames fans so beaten down that they actually believe that ....
No No.... We have the worst schedule. It’s upside down.

Flames have a easier schedule than teams that barely leave their time zone
Okay guy
If it's based on strength of opponent why are the Oilers 10 considering more **NINJA EDIT** the Oilers play more tired teams while rested
Also, too early to tell which are the tough teams
Last team to play a game is a benefit?

Although I feel this was often true in previous years, flames have a 7-3 edge this year in that regard this season.
Edmonton plays the ducks Oct 19th, predators Nov 3rd, Capitals Mar 9th, after those teams played in Calgary the night before.
Flames play rangers Nov 6th, Ducks Dec 21, Vegas Jan 15th, Sabres Mar 18th, kings Mar 31st, blues Apr 2nd, Stars Apr 21st, after those teams played in Edmonton the night before.
All this said, the No Goods have the fewest back to back games this season, 8 times in total. Flames have 14 which is middle of the pack, islanders have 19 which is kind of crazy.

Edmonton has 15 games where they are rested and the other team played the night before.
Calgary has 13 which seems good but Calgary has 12 the other way where they are the tired team.
Like every season I can remember Edmonton has the better rested/tired schedule

As I thought this isn't what is seems...this is a fantasy hockey skater strength of schedule
https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/2022-fa...h-of-schedule/
Rankings are for fantasy points of skaters
" Based on the defensive rating, their division has six of the bottom-11 teams in the NHL. And that doesn’t even account for the Seattle Kraken, who may struggle in their first season. I gave them an average grade both offensively and defensively so the results would not be skewed, one way or the other. With their main competition all grading out in the bottom-third of the NHL, Calgary and Vegas sit firmly at the top of the table."
Its 100% based on the Flames being in the pacific and it supposedly being easier to put up points (not even about winning)
Rest, travel, ect. not factored

Rest equity only, via HockeyViz.
Ottawa is at the bottom here, too...but then there is Seattle (7), Montreal (21), and Chicago (26) that are complete opposite.

Once again Edmonton near the top with a +6
Every single year they are at or near the top, at least Calgary is a +1 this year
This was brought up a few years ago at a function and a dummy oiler fan piped up and said "you guys realize most international flights come thru Calgary right?, that's why they play teams after playing Calgary" I didn't wait for anyone to respond and said: you realize NHL teams fly charter right? do you know what a charter flight means?
He went quiet

I'm not one to believe there's any kind of conspiracy.
I'd blame it on air schedules, but teams have their own planes (charters).
Could have something to do with airport departure closing times too.

I feel like it has more to do with keeping flights shorter for teams coming through Alberta.

Canucks likely being weighted due to this 6 game road trip to start. What an absolutely awful way to start a season. Just hitting every team's home opener along the way and you don't see yours until almost November.
