Crazy I use to live in a place two doors down from the under $100k on 12th Ave. I can't believe some of those places are so cheap even if it is a foreclosure and in Calgary. Do you know if that building has rental restrictions?

Damn, for $99,000 that's a good price. Say if I were to buy one of these places how does it work? Buy it outright or can I mortgage it?

I am only 20 and have never bought a house obviously but I want to move out in 2-3 years if I can.

Its tough to get a mortgage at that price however it is possible. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Rule of thumb I've always heard is you can get a new mortgage as long as you're going to be borrowing 50,000 or more, although I understand it can be a bit tougher if you're going to borrow 100,000. Get a good mortgage broker and it shouldn't be a problem.

It can be hard to mortgage a place with less than 500 square foot and less than 100k as most banks will frown upon financing such small loans as they have a portfolio that they like to stick to. I do know if one bank that will finance such deals so PM me if you need more info.
