Glad Tepera is gone, was never really a fan.

Too bad about Travis, feel like he could have maybe turned into an outfielder with a decent bat, but poor guy couldn't stay healthy.

IIRC that's it for the 2015/16 team now too. All gonzo

As for the trade, the Jays seem to be building up decent starting pitching depth, but still need some high quality top of the rotation arms. I'm hoping they sign/trade for two this off season. Something like Wheeler as a FA and Kluber via trade for example.

Fill out the rest with Thornton, Waguespack, Shoemaker, Anderson, Borucki, Kay, Zeuch, Merryweather and Pearson.

I'm somewhat surprised they moved on from Travis. They have to have inside injury reports to have made that decision, because his upside when he's not injured is pretty good. I guess they think whatever he has is chronic. That's too bad, but a team that's rebuilding would normally take a chance at that unless something is really wrong.

Smoak, if he comes back. But yeah, right now that's it. That escalated quickly.

Too bad about Travis but he can't stay healthy.

Hopefully Drury is gone before the season starts. We don't need to see him play any more games to find out that he is what he is now, and that's a really, really bad baseball player.

Score alert saying Gurriel could be moved for rotation help. I don't mind moving him if needed, but his contract is amazing and maybe an extra year of producing at the same clip would yield a higher return this time next year. That's my view on it - and it better be for a 1-3 type guy. Getting a 4-5 starter for a high potential middle infielder would be selling cheap.

It'd sure be nice if the Jays landed Tsutsugo and/or Akiyama. Probably not elite MLBers but could be very nice complimentary pieces to the young core the Jays have. Especially if Akiyama could perform in CF.

Its also being reported that the Jays are listening to offers on their young catchers. I doubt they're shopping them but merely listening when other teams inquire, which is obviously the right thing to do. Especially with Kirk and Moreno looming on the horizon.

I thought they’d stick with Jansen, maybe they’re just window shopping to see if there’s any chance of upgrading.

That'd be a pretty big signing to get a catcher like Grandal, then they could use Jansen as part of a package to land an ace possibly.

They've also apparently met with the reps for Jake Odorizzi. Would cost a 2nd round pick in compensation, but he'd immediately be the best pitcher in the rotation for the time being.

See here's the thing... the Jays aren't an Ace (or any single player) away from being a contender so any big trade they make this offseason has to be for a guy with 3+ years of control. The list of starting pitchers with 3+ years of control and a high performance level and play for a team that could realistically part with them is small. Probably better to wait a year and hope that Jansen's bat catches up with his glove (and makes him a much more valuable chip).

That's fair, and probably what will happen. They are most likely just kicking tires on potential free agent upgrades. Most of these FA's will probably look elsewhere to sign anyways.

If he keeps that up, and fixes his launch angle, he's probably what...a 6+ WAR 3B next season roughly?

That'd be huge for the Jays franchise going forward.

I like the idea of Grandal. At the right price that is. The FA market always scares me with the inevitable overpay in salary or term. The question then becomes which catcher do you shop? Jansen is clearly better behind the plate. I think McGuire has more offensive upside. I would lean more towards keeping Jansen but there is probably more of a market for him. However it plays out I hope I don’t have to see another Maile appearance.

Sounds like Odorizzi accepted his QO and is staying with the Twins.

The best thing about free agents is that they don't require any player assets to acquire, just money, which, despite what they say, the Jays have a lot of! They need to leverage this competitive advantage they have over teams. Especially when you will be getting starter level performances from Bichette, Vlad, Gurriel Jr for pennies on the dollar.

Not to be a downer, but keto can probably take away 25 pounds in his first month with his existing frame. So that's all diet, and it's temporary. So over the years when we see guys looking skinnier in the off-season, it's likely just simple dieting. Good start, but I wanna see weights and him getting more definition. This is vanity pounds being lost until there's some extra muscle or definition being put on.

Very much a Jays' use of Rogers media machine. Jays highly interested but he's the first name to be off the market.
