Yes, after the 2nd period Forsberg said that they had to get better chances. Thought they had a lot of shots but most of them he could have saved. Guess he did not see the big glove save Smith made on the 2-on-1.

So Eric Francis was wrong about his ‘source’ saying that Riddich is starting? Colour me surprised.
Unless I misremember, Francis said that on the broadcast last night.

Peters said in his scrum before the roadtrip that the plan was for Rittich to start either of the next 2 games.
I'm guessing Smith's SO may have changed things slightly.

You don't sit a shut out streak opportunity. If the teams feeling it you don't tinker.

I get that, but I also like building the team’s expectation that they can win with either goalie. And setting Smith’s expectation that he will regularly be the back-up.
To me, a lot depends on how Rittich looks in practice and if team will be confident in front of him.

Too early. First good game for Smith and you need him to start getting his juices flowing. You don't stop that just because. These aren't back to back games. This is the role of the starter. Manage his games in the middle of the season.

It is nice to see this coaching staff go with the obvious, or make changes on the fly and not settling in on what is not working.

Well it’s not just because. The whole point of sitting Smith is to extend his good play and not ride him until it fizzles.
I just don’t believe it’s so cut and dry and I can see both sides this early in the season. But I don’t believe in the philosophy you keep riding Smith while he’s hot because he’s the starter. You can’t do that this year.

Man.
Since the conclusion of Game #1 the SN960 morning guys have been losing their minds about James Neal playing on the “third” line. It would be nice if they could talk about other things.

Do we know who's actually starting yet?
Wondering out loud, but what if Peters stuck with his schedule regardless of how well you did your job last game? Instead of changing around his plans if you got a shutout, it was viewed as 'great work with the time you had in net'.
It feels like I've seen stinkers as often as I've seen incredible games following a shutout (from goalies in general, not just Smith), so I wonder how much 'riding the hot hand' really matters. If he got a shutout, he's likely playing well, and a scheduled night off might be the best way to maintain that rather than adjust the planned schedule (if there was one) to get you back in net.
