Default Calgary Flames - Nashville Predators (Oct 9, 2018)

There was no thread up so far, so I thought I would start one with 8 hours remaining until puck drop.

Game Starts - 6 PM Mountain
-->Nashville's home opener so there will be a banner ceremony

GO FLAMES GO!

Would be nice to see the Flames continue where they left off and bring forth a good effort once again. My biggest fear this season is that the Flames pull the crap where they are completely Jekyll & Hide, so you never know which team you're going to get.

However they do seem to play the Preds hard every game. And Peters knows the importance of this road trip and seems to have adjusted accordingly.

Pretty darn excited! The split decision with Vancouver was tough to watch, but the note they finished on is exactly where they wanted to be heading to Nashville.

Peters looks to be in fine form so far as well and here's hoping that keeps up and we see that Bennett-Dube-Neal line out there tonight. If that line clicks, it's anybody's guess which one of the 3 top lines is going to see the most ice-time tonight.

Liking the adjustment to D tonight, even if that means we don't have all 4 forward lines threatening to score with Peluso in. There were definitely enough errors from the D last game that this change is welcomed. Seems like everything is addressed with the skaters, which is something we wouldn't have expected to see this early in the season last year.

I was also about ready to start the goalie carousel when game 2 looked to be more of what we saw in game 1, but Smith put together a few key saves that he can build on. Really hoping that he comes out of the gate ready tonight and we can stop looking down the bench so early in the season.

Happy we're seeing a team like Nashville right now. This'll be a good test to see who this team is going to be early.

Wes Gilbertson says its Hathaway instead of Peluso.

Do those two just look alike or something? This is 2 days in a row with conflicting reports from people staring down at the ice.

This road trip features all high quality opponents. Obviously we want wins, but we have to expect a loss or two. It’ll be nice to see how the team matches up against NHL caliber rosters. Pulling for Bennett to continue his strong play and get rewarded, goaltending to be decent and our rookie D to hold their own.

Happy to see those two together, as I think it'll be a pairing in the future... but I'm hoping Hanifin-Andersson / Valimaki-Stone has seen a few reps in case the inexperience hurts that pairing tonight

I would actually prefer Peluso over Hathaway as at least he brings something specific to the lineup. Hathaway is mediocre at pretty much everything.

Well, Peluso better score. Or at least hit. Or at least do something.

He gives the skill guys a safety net because they know Peluso is a deterrent to having liberties taken against them. As long as he doesn't turn into Bollig all is good.

Flames seem to play well in Nashville, cautiously optimistic the Flames can pull off a win tonight.

I prefer Peluso over Hathaway too. He will have more of a presence in the lineup. Also, I expect 5-7 minutes of him. Gives Peters a chance to reward someone else who has been having a good game with some extra shifts.

Flames win 84-0. Preds are so embarrassed that they trade Saros to us for free.

The Flames always seem to play very well in Nashville. I think this is a one-goal game that is probably decided in OT.
