Flames Oct 8th — Practice notes: 3rd/4th line shuffling, Andersson in

@Fan960Steinberg
Quote:
#Flames at practice today prior to leaving for Nashville:

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Backlund-Czarnik
Bennett-Dube-Neal
Peluso/Hathaway-Ryan-Frolik

Giordano-Brodie
Hanifin-Stone
Valimaki-Andersson

Jankowski and Prout odd men out.
Kristen Anderson had the 4th line as:
Peluso-Jankowski-Frolik

But clarified:
Quote:
So, looks like Jankowski/Hathaway were the under-utilized forwards taking rushes at practice. Prout looked like the seventh 'D.' Valimaki/Andersson appear to be the third pairing.

Like the Andersson move but really not happy about Janko out.

Bennett up the lineup = thumbs up
Andersson in = thumbs up
Ryan down the lineup = thumbs up
Peluso in = thumbs down
Janko out = thumbs down

For those wondering why it's not good to have plugs like Peluso and Hathaway in your lineup as extra forwards, this is why.

I guess the Preds have Rinaldo, who's taken some dirty cheapshots at our players historically. Stajan last year comes to mind.

If we're subbing someone in, let it be Hathaway though.

I'd rather see Hathaway than Peluso for sure. Very happy to see Prout out of the lineup.

I love the third line, though I think Bennett deserves a chance to be the guy down the middle.

Not liking the fourth line. If Ryan is your 4C and Frolik your 4LW, why not try Jankowski on the wing?

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Backlund-Czarnik
Bennett-Dube/Jankowski-Neal
Dube/Ryan-Jankowski/Ryan-Frolik

Giordano-Brodie
Hanifin-Stone
Valimaki-Andersson

Disagree with Hathaway or Peluso in other than emergency injury

Good for Dube; however removing Jankowski completely doesn’t make sense, especially replacing with Peluso or Hathaway.

I’d suggest Jankowski normally be 3rd line with Bennett and Neal. I believe that could become a good 2b line.

To get Dube further experience it makes sense to occasionally have him and Jankowski swap between 3 and 4 lines.

When Jankowski is on 4th I would put Ryan on right wing but take defensive draws where necessary.

Frolik only up line-up now only if injuries dictate.

My 2 cents.

17 goals as a rookie last year. Size, speed, skill, finish. Had a hard time seeing stapled to the 4th line with single-digit minutes in the first two games. Having a really hard time seeing him bumped from the line-up for game 3. Maybe Peters challenging him to show a bit more?

Nice to see Bennett on the third line with NeaL. Looking forward to seeing how well that line clicks. Was hoping to see this line but with Jankowski at center.

Jankowski needs to play more, if anything. Don't like that decision.

We are all going to have our own spin on things, to me the biggest news out of this is the fact that Peters seems to;

a) see that the third line had to change because of a lack of chemistry
b) recognize that Bennett is bringing something that needs to be explored

I like Dube as a centre. His speed up the middle is great.

Guys its one practice. They are not even playing tonight. My guess Janko will be on 4th line come game day.

Changes indicate that Peters liked what he saw from Bennett and Dube and not so much from Prout, Jankowski and Ryan and Brodie on the PP.

I like that the coach isn't defaulting to the always weak, 'we won , so same lineup' as it never made sense to me.

I'm guessing the Flames are ecstatic with Prout given his role of 7th dman and replacing Matt Bartkowski.

Injury happens, Prout goes in, Flames win, he posts 61% CF and now you move on and put the youngster in for the second game without Hamonic.

Bill Peters says David Rittich will likely start one of the next two games. #Flames

I can't believe we are going to have another 3.5M 4th line center for another 3 years. Although Ryan is an upgrade on Stajan.
