I know someone mentioned the Quebec voodoo factor. I couldn't find the home/away splits, but I did happen to notice that career wise Montreal is one of the 4 teams Fleury has a sub. 900 SV% against. Also one of the 4 teams his career GAA is above 3.00.
Not saying it will happen, but it is an interesting note for the series.

Habs got through the Leafs which are reliable 1st round chokers and Winnipeg the most (well almost) over rated coach and team in Canada. Logically Vegas should dispatch Montreal in 5 games.
I'll say Montreal in 6.

Habs have a +3 goal differential in the playoffs (and swept round 2).
LV has a + 9 goal differential, against better opposition. Should be enough to overcome Price. They play defence as well as MTL, and will be tough to beat at home.
But, if the Leafs are the most-cursed, the Habs are the most-blessed, and they could surprise again.

Imagine a final with MTL vs NYI. Not only zero western representation, but almost a literal subway series for the Stanley Cup.
Just some crazy stuff when you think about it.

Amen to that. Couldn't say it any better.

While I agree they have right to be spoiled, is there any real evidence that they are actually spoiled?

The Vegas fans I’ve met at the game were great.

They remind me a lot of tampa. I feel like their fans are ultra amped up now when their teams are good but with no grassroots hockey or tradition, they will really be hurting after an extended lean period. Who knows maybe they will prove me wrong long run.
Watching that video have a hard time wrapping my head around grown men brand new to hockey becoming such hardcore fans in their 40s that they are trying to fight opposing fans. They seem like a bunch of flavour of the week blowhards.
That said their hockey team is pretty darn good and I have a hard time seeing montreal getting by them, definately be pulling for the Habs but expect them to get beat in 5 or 6. Any canadian team east of winnipeg to me I can pull for with no reservations and I find it easy to hate on sun belt teams, especially the ones with such fragile egos they try and ban fans of other teams

Yup. I’ve been to a handful of games at T-Mobile, and the fans are awesome and fun. Such a great atmosphere. I’ve only been during regular season and it’s actually a good mix of vegas fans and fans of the opposing team. Really miss it down there.

If anything they are the gold standard in the NHL along with Tampa.
1) They prove how bad the other GMs are at their jobs with how bad they flubbed up expansion, and with how Vegas seems to win trades.
2) It shows that there is benefit in taking risks, making trades, and not just accepting the status quo.
3) They don’t have their own top 3 pick on the team and never “tanked” or looked at needing to suck for 5 years to be good.

I predict we'll have even more respect for Vegas after Seattle gets the same expansion rules and then stinks up the league for 5+ years.

Vegas was extremely fortunate to have a player like Fleury available.

Nashville to Pittsburgh is closer together georgraphically, so it is like two subway series in the past 4 years.

Detroit v. Pittsburgh was really close. Less than 500 km.

Agreed. Have been to several games there and the fans are great. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming - among the best I have experienced around the NHL.
