I do hope for the win, but similar to Locke I just don't know if I think they have come around enough yet. They are so much a one step forward 2 steps back team lately.

Anyway GFG!!!

It's a nice feeling to hear that the backup goalie is coming in tonight and not be concerned about it in the slightest

I am not a big fan of GG at all, but the last time the backup was in we played much better defensively, so maybe this is GG trying to get better defense over a couple games instead of the team going back to some bad habits immediately?

It would be 3 games in 4 days for Mike Smith if he played tonight and Saturday, so I think that plays the bigger role, but if the team tightens up as much or more as last night defensively that's a great side effect!

Jankowksi looked sick last game. Hopefully he and Bennett can have another strong game

If nothing else, games like these are a good chance to see how the younger guys are developing. More than anything, I want to see Bennett and Jankowski have strong games, even if we come up short.

Give the same effort as last night and we should come out on top providing Price does not go into God mode.

Rittich in net tonight according to Fan 960. I've liked his play this far, excited to see him again.

So, with no Tkachuk, what do we see as lines? My orference would be:

Johnny-Money-Ferland
Bennett-Backlund-Frolik
Hathaway-Janko-Jagr
Lazar-Stajan-Brouwer

If Jagr isn't good to go I'd move Brouwer up to the 3rd line, and Brother draws in on the 4th.

Though I am hesitant to split up Janko and Bennett based on the last few games, I just feel Bennett would get the boost from playing with Backs and Fro tonight, rather than Brouwer killing the 2nd line.

Tkachuk 1-game ban explains decision to start David Rittich in net tonight. Now Flames can insert Mike Smith on the left side of the 3M line. Good shot, great passer, fiery. Why not? Basically Tkachuk 2.0, only 16 years older.

No way I'm splitting up Bennett & Jankowski right now. Lazar or Brouwer can play with Backlund & Frolik.

I would do

Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland
Bennett-Jankowski-Jagr
Frolik-Backlund-Hathaway
Hamilton-Stajan-Brouwer

Just for kicks,

Lazar-Backlund-Frolik
Bennett-Jankowski-Hathaway
Fred. H- Stajan-Brouwer

Edit, by the way Puppet Guy, I love the Maiden reference.

Hathaway might replace Tkachuk better than Lazar. Obviously not as good but more similar style than Lazar.

Brouwer seems most likely though.

For one game, I would promote Bennett. He deserves to get the bump up due to his great play of late, and of anyone else in the lineup he and Tkachuk have the most similar game play (including Hathaway in this comparison).

Brouwer has played pretty well the last two games as well and has 2 points. I think Bennett's speed is better served with Jankowski and Brouwer's lack of the same is better with Backlund and Frolik, who, while not slow, generally play a non-rush game.
