Seeing as how Rittich is starting and that he was only beat by screened shots, Flames D really need to be ruthless and clear the front of the net tonight. All 3 goals vs STL were scored with point blasts with different screens - pay attention to how the guys taking away Allen's eyes do so. He didn't see a single one of these pucks.
The first one is off a board battle win. The puck is fed back to Benn at the right point, who moves it to the middle for a better lane. Carr is in motion as soon as he recognizes his teammates have won the puck battle and shoulders his way roughly past both Tarasenko and Gunnarson (who don't put up any fight) and takes away Allen's eyes for the shot.
The second one is right off a faceoff win. It's pretty unfair as the puck was going wide but rolled on end and actually curved right around Allen's pad! A Weber bomb is hard enough to stop, but a Weber curveball? Jeez. Even if he had gotten more of a straight shot it was still a solid scoring chance, Allen was a half second slow in getting across, Tarasenko was accidentally screening him anyway putting pressure on Weber, and Shaw was about to get in the lane.
The 3rd goal is like a cleaner, picture perfect version of the 2nd goal. Again off a clean faceoff win, Danault recognizes the angle that Weber is going for, holds his ground and actually does a solid pick on both Jaskin and Upshall to set up the screen for this goal.
