Default Samsung Galaxy S7 Help

About 3 years ago I purchased a 32GB Samsung Galaxy S7.

I'm not the type of person who really cares about what phone they have, or use my phone for status. To me it's a tool, and so long as it works I'm happy.

My thought process at the time of purchase was I wanted the phone to last 3+ years and I'd use it until it died/I couldn't use it effectively anymore.

Here I am three years later and the phone still works great. Heck it still feels new to me.

Here's the problem I've run into.

While my music, podcasts, pictures, and video are all on my 64GB memory card, my phone's internal storage is reaching capacity.

It would he fine if not for the bloatware.

Ant Radio Service
Ant Radio+ Plugins Service
Autofill with Samsung Pass
Beaming Service
Briefing
Gear VR Service
Google Text to Speach Engine
Hangouts
S Voice
Samsung Billing
Samsung Cloud
Samsung Experience Home
Samsung Experience Home Service
Samsung Gear
Samsung Health
Samsung Internet
Samsung Members
Samsung Pass
Samsung Pass Provider
Samsung Pay
Samsung Pay Framework
Samsung Push Service
Skype
Smart Things
WhatsApp
Workspace

All of which I either don't use (or am unaware that I use, no idea what Workspace, is for example)

Those would free up about 1.25GB

Even still that's only a fraction of the space left on my phone.

What's taking up all the space? How do I free it up?

Have you cleared your downloads folder at all? Mine was .5gb of just old PDF files and stuff I looked at once and never used again.

Videos are huge too. If you have old videos you took but never watch they take up a lot of room.

My S8 has a storage analyser feature in the "my files" app that tells me what's taking up the most space, I'd imagine your phone has something similar. You could also root your phone and delete all that bloatware too

I've run the analyzer but nothing comes up for internal storage.

I have downloads clear.

The issue isn't the memory card, I have about 30GB free on it. I just don't know how to clean up the internal storage.

Music, pictures, videos etc are all on the SD card.

If you root your phone not only can you delete all those Samsung apps, you could also enable the option to move apps to your SD card as well. I know some newer phones and newer apps have trouble running this way though

I've seen the root option when I did some Google searches.

However I'm not familiar with it. There's lots of websites and YouTube videos but being unfamiliar I don't want to experiment on my own.

Fair enough, there are programs out there that make it extremely easy but it's been years since I did it, haven't felt the need for my last few phones so I wouldn't be much help either

Have you tried clearing the cache on your apps? I've seen a few apps like YouTube use up hundred of MB's.

I think you can also move apps to your external SD card to free up space as well, not the built in ones but others that you have downloaded.

Windirstat on PC is great for visualizing what is taking up room on your drive. I wish there was a version for Android but this app is supposed to be similar. It'll let you know what you need to clean up to make room.

BUMP

I wanted to post to say I discovered that Power Point was saving presentations that were on my SD card on the phone itself as well.

I'm not sure where exactly, but I had over 11GB of data being used by the program.

Clear Cache and Clear Data solved my storage problems completely.

That is for all the advice and suggestions.
