The 4 main prospects
Janko - Easily NHL ready. Would not be shocked if he becomes a Monahan lite calibre two way forward sooner than later. Just smart all over the ice. He is always in the right place at the right time. Just a matter of him getting experience in the NHL to see where he can go. Has top 6 upside and could very well become a key part of the team moving forward. If the Flames keep Backlund long term, it may end up being that Janko forces Bennett to the wing.
Foo - He's very good and if the Flames were not as deep, there would not be a question of his making the team. As of right now, I think it wouldn't hurt him to start the year in Stockton and get a ton of 1st line ice time down there. If there's injuries, I think he'll be a legitimate candidate to be a call up. It also makes for some flexibility in terms of when the Flames have to eventually need to move some forward contracts because of $$ concerns. He is legit.
Andersson - Getting better, but still makes some sloppy plays. Should probably get more time in Stockton along with Kylington. No need to rush either of them, especially with the depth on defense the Flames have.
Valimaki - Best defense prospect since Dion? Just like with Foo, if the Flames weren't deep, he'd get a shot at least for a few games. It's exciting to see another guy of that calibre in the organization. Kulak and the 2015 picks need to show a lot as Valimaki may come in and steal their job if they don't step up sooner than later. Would not be entirely shocked if he's the #6 in 2018-19.

They've had more than 6 shots - we aren't getting credit for a bunch. I'd put us around 13-14. Still not acceptable and not enough to win (clearly) but for whatever reason we aren't getting shots on the clock.

Wow, that was a good vid montage. Why don't the Flames hire someone that can pull that kinda media off? I always feel as if it's sub par.

It's just understandable if they're not all there.

if that were the case, wouldn't the jets players also be "not all there"?
when you have two teams under the same circumstances and only one is not working hard or seems tired, don't even bother to make excuses. just admit they're mailing it in today.

I am beginning to wonder if Mangiapane is going to have a similar career trajectory as Kenny Agostino. Smart, quality player that can generate offense at the AHL level, but might have difficulty moving up the ladder as he doesn't do any one thing exceptionally well (except he's fast and is smart)

The Jets organization has tonnes of time to kill every year once the team is eliminated from playoff contention in January. It is easier under these favourable circumstances.

Okay. They're mailing it in.
Mason McDonald is in net, Jankowski isn't playing, and it's Monday morning. I have only so many cares to give.

Non-prospect at this point. Just a matter of waiting for his contract to expire and move on. Bad pick at the time, bad pick now.
Great guy though.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Jets prospects are amped and likely working to milk every precious moment of this experience—their next stop is godforsaken Winnipeg.

Well, the mini-Flames got destroyed, but McDonald let in a bad goal and still had a .912 save percentage. So that's something at least.

Just like against Edmonton, no urgency in their game until too late.
Important thing is the top prospects played as well as anybody in the tournament. Guess that's what matters at the end of the day from a Flames perspective.

Bit too early to say that. I think Agostino's average to below average speed was his biggest downfall and I don't think Mangiapane has that problem. Mangiapane mostly has to fight his slightly below average size. I think Mangiapane has no chance of competing for a spot this camp but lets give him at least another year before we start to really doubt him. Agostino was what, 23 years old a couple years ago? Mangiapane is only 21. Skill, skating and smarts can get him there. I don't think he's a top prospect and our depth up front may be a huge roadblock for him but he's still go NHL upside IMO. I think he's currently considered a better prospect than Agostino ever was.

Healey was the most pleasant surprise for me. Liked the big four as well.
Rest of the team was meh though.
