Default Game 4: Rematch vs Rockford

Game Time: 1pm PST, Sunday OCT 16

The Abbotsford Heat (3-0-0) square off against the Rockford Ice Hogs (2-1-0) in a rematch of Abbotsford's home opener that saw the Heat rally back to defeat the Hogs en route to a third straight victory to open their season.

Through the 3-0 start, lots of team stats are looking up for the Heat. Strong special teams have them 13/14 on the PK and in 3 games they've yet to be outshot. They've also managed 3/11 on the man advantage, something that was hard to come by in the first game against Rockford. The Heat had only one power play to the Hogs five.

Despite the win, Greg Nemisz was quick to note that they weren't happy with their performance. "Yeah, we can score goals it's good to win 4-3 and get the two points, but we definitely want to fix a lot of things in our game and be a lot better Sunday" Nemisz stated in his post-game interview.

Players to watch:

Chicago selected 11th overall in 2008 and scooped up Rockford's leading goal scorer Kyle Beach, who potted his third behind Irving on Friday night. Look for him to be dangerous again tonight.

Calgary had to wait until the 25th pick, and claimed Abbotsford's leading points scorer, Greg Nemisz, who also tallied a goal in the previous match against the Hogs and will be looking to continue his 3 game 4 point (2g,2a) streak in today's rematch.

In less than one hour, the puck drops at the AESC in Abbotsford. The Heat have won by defense and by offense already this season, but they will need both to fend off the IceHogs, who were very dangerous on Friday.

GO HEAT GO

Heat on the PK after a Gaelan Patterson tripping penalty.

edit: Killed it off, nice work!

1-0 IceHogs.

Morin scores his second in as many games.

2-0. Leland beat up high again, this time by Piri. despite being outshot 12-6, the Heat once again are down by 2 to the Hogs.

I wouldn't worry about single results like that with the Heat this year...unlike last year, a 2-3 goal deficit isn't the end of the world.

Irving is looking a little shaky though...all part of a goalie's development, I guess.

I'm just amazed at this year's team's ability to come back from deficits. Last year a two goal deficit would've basically meant the end of the game for the Heat.

I credit Ward 100% for that. He must be creating an awesome vibe among the players.

Oh boo.

Come on Heat.

Drives me nuts when a team outshoots 32-13 and can't catch a frickin' break.

Irving not having the best night.

Heat lose their first game of the season, 3-2 to the IceHogs. One bounce could have changed the outcome of that game.

Oh well, I'm still pretty happy with their effort.

Mikkelson and Walter with a nice game.

Now the Heat have a looong wait till Friday when they play the Admirals (a really difficult team for them to beat last year).

Right. Forgot haha. Milwaukee Admirals.

I'm looking forward to seeing Jusso Puustinen and Ryan Ellis when the come here on Friday.

I'm just glad the Admirals don't have Dekanich in net anymore. The guy had the Heat's number last season (or the Heat had no offense).
