You only get it if you've eaten Quebec's version of Swiss Chalet though.

Just from the other side, both players are coming off fantastic seasons. Their value will likely never be higher. By trade deadline or free agency they are almost another year older which is meaningful at their ages. Even though new contracts wouldn’t start until next year. Playing on a new team it’s hard to tell how this year goes for them. There is a lot of risk on Huberdeau and Weegar if they don’t sign and roll the dice on what next year will bring.

While both deals may age poorly this team is really trying to win in the Sutter window which could be 1-5 more years. Last night was likely a good step in the right direction. Next they need to bring the boys to Calgary and swing them out to Banff for a quick visit and wine and dine them here with contract offers coming shortly after.
I feel more confident these guys will sign compared to Johnny and Chucky

Huberdeau and Weegar already had a taste of rejection. It may help make them more realistic. Johnny was on the cloud and reality hit him hard.

Looking at Johnny have a smaller market of teams as the top guy and the next 2 high end guys in Klingberg and Kadri having trouble getting deals is eye opening for upcoming UFA’s.

Teams just aren't keeping cap space available for potential UFA's. Things could change once the cap starts increasing again though.

I agree I think this is a function of the flat cap. Free agents are where teams typically overpay and teams just can’t afford that especially competitive teams where most 30+ players want to be.

Flat cap plus more being paid to RFA contracts. Gaudreau missed out on the gaudy RFA numbers given to Matthews, Marner, etc. And as a result gets squeezed at the other end.

Our family was in Quebec City this April. St Hubert's is much better than Swiss Chalet; however I do understand they are likely part of a group of different branded restaurants in Canada.

They are both franchises under Recipe Unlimited, which also franchises a ton of others - Harvey’s, Montana’s, Keg, Kelseys, East Side Mario’s…
