Police search University of Calgary campus for man with knife
https://calgary.citynews.ca/2022/10/...nife-ucalgary/
Quote:
Some anxious moments at the University of Calgary Tuesday night after a warning was issued on reports of a man believed to be armed with a knife on the main campus near the Science Theatres.
|
Drove by on crowchild around 8.45 or so, and starting at the lrt station, it looked like every police vehicle in the city and campus security vehicle was there - roads, on the grass, on sideai, etc, you name it.

I was wondering what was going on. I was playing squash there and left at 8:30 and saw a bunch of cop cars cruising around the area.

The rice and sauce was the cheapest meal on campus if you were hard up for cash.

Such a weird story overall.
Police weren't just called because of a guy with a knife, they were called saying that several people had already been stabbed. Then when they get there, no victims, no man with a knife, and nobody even saying they saw a knife at any point. Lots of people on social media claiming they saw a guy with a knife, yet none of them were willing to talk to the police?
I'm calling BS on the whole thing. Someone thought they were funny pranking 911, people online wanted to act like they were part of it

Anyone found making false statements like this needs to be punished severely.. A couple months removed from a real life stabbing rampage, the resources to respond to this would have been immense, let alone the terror inflicted on those who thought they were at risk.
So gross

From CPS FB:
Quote:
Man charged in connection to threats made at the University of Calgary
We’ve charged a man who is believed to be responsible for what was initially reported as multiple assaults on campus at the University of Calgary earlier this week. It is believed the same man is also responsible for a sexual assault that occurred earlier the same day downtown.
Just before 2 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, a woman reported to police that she had been walking westbound on Riverfront Avenue S.W., approaching Second Street S.W., when a man approached her from behind and touched her inappropriately without her consent.
Later that same day, at approximately 8:25 p.m., we were called to the University of Calgary campus located at 2500 University Drive N.W., for multiple reports of an unknown man stabbing several people.
Upon arrival, our officers canvassed the campus, and were unable to locate any victims or witnesses to corroborate the incident.
In the hours following the event, more information became available, and our District 3 General Investigations Unit worked with the University of Calgary to investigate the incident, including reviewing CCTV footage, which showed the suspect confronting an individual before fleeing the area prior to police arrival. The individual was not injured.
As a result, Nicklaus Youal EKHUGIE, 41, has been charged with one count of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, one count of assault with a weapon and one count of sexual assault.
He will next appear in court on Monday, Oct. 31, 2022.
“This was a team effort by many members in District 1 and District 3 who worked collaboratively with each other and with the University of Calgary staff. Together, we were able to advance this investigation and prevent further risk to Calgarians,” says Staff Sergeant Colin Chisholm of the Calgary Police Service District 3 General Investigations Unit.
