Gazdic says" price to pay" if you hit McDavid
Larf.

“(Protecting McDavid) is something I’m definitely going to try and do,” Gazdic told me last week. “I’m not sure I’m going to be playing first-line left wing with him, but I just want to make sure that when he’s out there on the ice he knows (intimidation) isn’t something he has to worry about. There aren’t too many guys who’ll be taking runs at him, and if they do, there is going to be a price to pay.”
Gazdic just doing what he is supposed to do and say. That is the only reason he is in the NHL.
With that being said, I don't think the Flames ease up on McDavid. I hope that nobody in a Flames' uniform ever plays a dirty game - especially hits that are blatant intent to injure (ala Cooke, Marchment, etc) - but if the opportunity presents itself to nail McDavid with a nice clean hit that knocks him on his butt, I doubt Gazdic's comments will be on the minds of anyone with that opportunity.
What should happen is that other guys on the ice with McDavid will rush in and try to stick up for him, and the game becomes chippy and then you see a Gazdic - Engelland fight, followed by more chippiness and other fights.
What will probably happen is exactly what happened last year when Draisaitl was clobbered, and the rest of the players on the ice looked like a bunch of deer caught in headlights too afraid to do anything at all.

Haha. I sort of want to tune in to the first game they play vs Kings or Ducks. Those guys specifically target your best young players and know how to get away with it. And both teams out-tough the Oilers by a 5:1 ratio

Guy can't even skate an NHL shift anymore. What a joke. At minimum he will pick a fight with whoever the closest thing is to a fighter on the Flames. Big whoop.
A joke of a player on a joke of a team in a joke of a city.

I'm probably the biggest fan of goons or tough guys that's on this forum, and even I know his words mean nothing. If getting smacked around by Bollig and Engelland is what Gazdic wants then go for it, because that's about all his empty threat will come too. Enjoy the AHL, champ
