He was acquired for a low draft pick, scored 28, 28 and 44 in his 3 seasons here and was a great teammate and community guy from all accounts
Unless is someone like James Neal, I'll never understand trashing former players. Colborne was just fine for what he was

He was a nice pickup for a rebuilding team. Scored a big goal against the Ducks in our only win in the second round of 2015

Was a multiple winner of the media good guy award
Should be fondly remembered.

Good local kid that got to play for his hometown team, and had to retire early due to multiple concussions.
No reason to mock him.

Grew up playing with Joe. He's been class all the way.

I remember half of CP freaking out after losing Colborne for nothing then seeing him put up a hat trick in his first game on the Avs.
Looking back he was a solid acquisition, make some good contributions, and the team moved on at the right time.

Played hard for the Flames. Good guy in the community. What’s not to like? I hope he is doing very well.

Treliving was right not to overpay/re-sign him after his career best 19-goal, 44-point season. Proved to be a shrewd move on the then-new GM's part.
One of many examples of players who benefitted from the Backlund effect.

All I can get
It's difficult to compare him to other players.

I'm not sure about that. I like to think of Nathan MacKinnon as a faster, more agile, more skilled version of Joe Colborne. Another good comparison the Flames have now is Matthew Tkachuk, but he's more of a much smarter, more skilled version of Joe Colborne.

Another way to put it is that Joe Colborne is a less-skilled, lower-performing, much less flashier and not as smart version of Wayne Gretzky.

Celebrated Square Root Day
I remember him tearing up after the Flames beat the Kings to get into the 2015 playoffs, as he had dreamed of it his whole childhood.
