From Stable to Table: Would You, Could You, Eat A Horse?
Tonight on Global News, Brienne Hurlburt reported on them banning the slaughter and eating of horses in the US. Would you, could you, eat a horse?
Here are screenshots of Brienne from tonight's telecast.
Umm, what were we talking about again?
Oh yeah...horses. I dunno. I think I could eat a horse. I've never tried it though.

i hear horse meat is very tough. I eat most types of game (elk, deer, moose, etc) but I don't know if i could bring myself to eat horse. Something about it makes it seem like eating a dog or cat. Sure it's meat, but they're so friendly!

I have eaten horse meat recently. Also donkey meat.
It's not bad. I have no qualms about it.

Horse meat is a little tough. It's not bad, but not a favourite of mine. I haven't eaten dog yet, but I expect I'll be trying it this winter when I move to NW China. Some people eat it here in Shanghai too, and I've actually seen whole skinned dog hanging outside of a butcher's here, but I've never been in the right situation and mood to try it here. It's kind of a winter food. The people I know who eat dog do think it's delicious.

People in parts of Western Europe, especially France, and South America (Argentina) have eaten horse for years. It is very lean and high in iron.
My wife would be appalled though...

Sure I'd eat a horse.
But what I really want to eat some day is a penguin.
I've never heard of anyone eating penguin before (unless they're stranded in the Antarctic), but something that cute HAS to be tasty.

I want to join a endangered animal dining club.
And a rare animal dining club.
I'd like to order the Big Foot steak grilled over moon rocks please. I'd also like to order the chilled penguin brains served over ice cream for dessert.

There was a Hungarian dish I had that was made with Horse meat. Tasted like beef and most people probably wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. It was stewed, so it was very soft
