I don't find it frightening. You're not going to get hurt if one of those monkeys hits your car. They will, but that's the game they're playing. Insurance will cover your damages.

Oh I disagree. I don't want to see that and it would be very traumatic, I think.

I would disagree. It is essentially a missile. At speed a missile is still a missile. Wheelies maybe won't cause too much damage but a t-bone into the driver's side at speed, or even just taking a front wheel through your window will cause a very bad day.

I get that the construction zone where you have to do 80 on Deerfoot is frustrating, but I hope the two clowns weaving through people get arrested eventually. ####ing stupidity. Amazing that they didn’t cause a pileup.

Yeah that’s a two way street though because some of the “construction zones” in this city right now are jump the shark stupid and nonsensical. It’s like a guy just decided to go place pylons randomly and was bored. I’m looking at you downtown.
Meanwhile that new stretch Anderson travelling NB onto Deerfoot… like… the workers often find themselves wandering up on the highway there?

Every “lane ends” sign in a construction zone in the city is a lie.

I'm thinking of running for mayor with the crux of my platform being that I will be ending non-constructive construction zones, any project/construction manager found to leave up these signs when there is zero reason, (to save a worker the two and a half minutes each day to move them isn't valid) will be fired as soon as HR will allow.....and in fact we will be doing a lookback, any citizen can report a site 5 years back and its verifiable that there was a pointless zone for more than a day, they will also be charged in a newly created law retroactively and put in jail.

It's unfortunate, but the ridiculous "construction zones" around the city have taught me to not bother slowing down at all until I see construction workers on site and the site actually being near the road.
I'm not slowing down to 60 km/h because 2 hours a day a worker is doing something on the side of an overpass 50m away from the road.
Construction companies should be fined $250k a day if they put up a construction zone when no work impacts the road at all.

They'd all go bankrupt in a week.

Didn't the province bring a law like that in 10 years ago or something?

I thought that was just for road closures, not for just deking people out that their might be a lane closure.

Yes, the amazing, all-good, illustrious NDP did bring in a law for that.
But it also states that if there is no shoulder available, then the speed decreases can stay 24/7.

Whatever company did the work on Crowchild Tr a few years back was the worst. Pylons everywhere, no workers, 50 kmh limit, lanes closed for no reason...and always a photo radar there.

I’d slow to 30 there every time you’d see the radar. I saw you but I’m gonna try and jam the traffic as much as I can. That one was brutal.

It's noticably worse since the city stopped doing a lot of detours themselves and a dozen crappy traffic companies sprang up. Downtown is a mess

I mean I still see most of this being foisted off on Standard General and ALSA but I just think both of those subs have kind of gone down the ####ter in the last few years.

Alsa and SG will have small ones for their own concrete work but now we're seeing large ones done by third parties, when before you'd really only see that on major highways with stuff like interchange projects
