I almost agree. The guy who posted about watching Flames games later, on demand and coming to this site before or while watching the game and whose gear grinder was the FoI section containing spoilers, takes some beating.

You're surprised that more people care about easily walking in and out of a building - in the manner by which they walk through every other door on the planet - versus shuffling along in a little mini-circle to save energy in a building they don't give a single fk about?
This is the worst gear grinder in the history of the three threads.
Climate change could have been avoided if everyone would just stick to the god damn revolving doors! What's the matter with these people!
Calgary's bus traps of yore going away to become vintage memories... https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/bye-bye-b...ices-1.6787805
So much joy and abuse with the Facebook and other threads of those who got caught dropping into bus traps, unable to open their doors, doing everything to avoid eye contact whilst wondering if any of the plethora of signs around could have given them the hint not to attempt passage.
Gear grinder... probably not... unless you got "wrongfully" entrapped perhaps.
What GMG is that my wife will methodically wash our garbage for 100% recycling obedience but has no qualms leaving the back door open for 10 minutes while farting around in the garage when its -25 out, cooling the whole house 6 degrees.
My wife does the same, and tries to recycle everything even though there is no chance that some of the small plastic type stuff will ever get recycled

The one on centre street gave me endless entertainment. Loved seeing the idiots get stuck in them. Had to push my ex out of one 25+ years ago. How the #### do you miss the signs?

Maybe show her this? Doing stuff like that is actually worse than throwing it in the trash. I assume it ends up contaminating other products.

Lids and caps – separate from container
Metal lids must be larger than 5 cm (two inches) in diameter
Plastic lids must be larger than 7.5 cm (three inches) in diameter
Lids tip: if the lid is about the size of the palm of your hand, it's ok to recycle. Please note that all coffee cup lids belong in the garbage. They are too light to be sorted properly at the recycling facility.

Were they meant to be a traffic calming measure for certain areas or what was the purpose?

Probably like missing an exit like this.

To stop cut through traffic when they decided useful roads should not be so useful.
I used to live in Greenview for a good chunk of my early years in Calgary, and I always found the 4 Street NE @ Beaver Dam Road bus trap to be particularly stupid.

They all are. Just as dumb as a few years ago when they went through all the grid neighborhoods around Centre north and put random barricades where you can only turn one way, or not get through at all. "Let's see here, how can we make getting around these communities just as annoying as all the new neighborhoods? Oh, I know!"
I would also add the neighbourhood gates, like those around Crescent Heights and Kensington are horrible. GPS doesn’t tell you which street is gated so you’re up and down Centre St trying to find a way to get to a person’s house.

I remember the one by the Village Square Leisure Center in Pineridge. Every once in a while, the 34 would have to take a detour to Temple because some bozo was caught in a trap, couldn’t walk out. Why couldn’t they see the signs or was it because they didn’t believe a word they said?

I bunnyhopped the second one in the dark going down that hill (why have two there???). The lighting was meh. Looking back, it was a pretty stupid thing to do at speed, but I made it by a good measure.
Today at the gym I was washing up, and I hear this dude just letting it rip in the stall. He flushes, struts out without ever touching the sink, and hits the weight floor. That's just straight-up nasty, man. Just makes me think about how nice it'll be to have my own gym setup soon.
